Nittany Lions absorb another lopsided defeat at Michigan
There were a lot of reasons to feel skeptical about
Penn State's chances of pulling off an upset this
weekend at Michigan. It was a road game against a
top-five opponent, and the cornerstone of the Nit-
tany Lions' offense, quarterback Trace McSorley,
had suffered a knee injury the previous week that
had forced him to don a protective brace.
In the end, the Wolverines turned all of those
pessimistic scenarios into reality. They dominated
the Nittany Lions' offense, holding it to 186 yards
and 11 first downs, and wore down a defense that
had managed to keep things close for the better
part of three quarters. The result: a 42-7 victory
that avenged a similarly lopsided loss at Beaver
