86 ■ THE WOLFPACKER ■ FOOTBALL RECRUITING Ohio State and Penn State. He has visited all of those schools, including taking mul- tiple trips to Ann Arbor to check out the Wolverines. However, the 6-1, 195-pound Steele — who some like at safety — is a Raleigh native and his parents still live there. The chance to play close to his true home is alluring to Steele, who visited NC State twice in the spring and summer, most re- cently for the Alpha Wolf Showcase. As a sophomore, Steele registered 43 tackles, nine stops behind the line of scrim- mage, six sacks and one forced fumble. Ri- vals.com lists Steele as the No. 5 prospect in Virginia and the No. 9 safety nationally. Defensive Back Three-star cornerback Mario Love Jr. of Hough High in Cornelius, N.C., has been one of NC State's most frequent visitors among the top in-state prospects in the 2021 class. That might be because Love knows more players on the Wolfpack squad than any other college. Off the top of his head, Love rattled off senior corner Nick McCloud, junior corner Chris Ingram, redshirt freshman corner Malik Dunlap and a pair of early enrollees in nickel Jalen Frazier (his former team- mate at Hough) and wide receiver Keyon Lesane as players he knows fairly well on the NC State roster.
