MARCH 2020 ■ 17 TRACKING THE PACK Bobby Purcell And Debbie Antonelli To Receive Prestigious Honor The North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame will be inducting former NC State women's basketball legend and television broadcaster Debbie Antonelli and retiring Wolfpack Club Executive Director Bobby Pur- cell May 1 at the Raleigh Convention Center. Purcell, who also was an assistant football coach and recruiting coordinator for NC State football, has overseen the construction of the Murphy Football Center and Vaughn Towers, plus the funding of nearly 300 student-athlete scholarships annually. He has been asso- ciated with NC State since 1981. Antonelli is in her 30th year as a full-time broadcaster for ESPN. She is an Emmy Award and Gracie Award winner for broadcasting. She played for the late Kay Yow at NC State from 1982-86, when the Wolfpack reached the Sweet 16 twice. Muggsy Bogues, Mack Brown, Dennis Craddock, Dr. Charles Ker- nodle, Mac Morris, Trot Nixon, Julius Peppers, Judy Rose, Tim Ste- vens and Donnell Woolford will join Antonelli and Purcell in being inducted. "This year's class encompasses all fields of athletics, including professional, collegiate, high school and special achievements," said Nora Lynn Finch, president of the Hall. "This 57th class of inductees and their outstanding accomplishments continue to build on the rich sports heritage of North Carolina. We look forward to celebrating this special time in our state's sports history." A permanent exhibit, the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame is lo- cated on the third floor of the N.C. Museum of History in Raleigh and features significant objects and memorabilia donated by inductees.
