Heritage High in Wake Forest, N.C., was timed at 4.59 seconds in the 40-yard dash at NC State's summer camp, while three-star Jalen Coit from Cheraw (S.C.) High was among the top 13 percent of 776 recruits that participated in the All-American Na- tional Combine in the 40-yard dash. Rivals.com rated Crabtree as the No. 38 player in North Carolina and Coit as the No. 16 prospect in South Carolina. Yet, at receiver, the headliner is four-star Porter Rooks from Myers Park High in Char- lotte. He is listed as the No. 195 player na- tionally regardless of position by Rivals.com, the No. 39 wideout in the land and the No. 8 recruit in North Carolina. Rooks has already enrolled at NC State, as has Coit. "He's so consistent," Rivals.com recruit- ing analyst Adam Friedman said about Rooks. "He's somebody who is going to get open, going to pick up key first downs, come up in big spots for the offense. He is somebody that you know is going to be there regardless of the situation. "He's got a good frame, 6-2, 180. He is somebody who can certainly get stronger. I expect him to get a little bit quicker once he's on campus working out with the team." "Porter was a national recruit," Doeren added. "People didn't stop recruiting Porter, and Porter stayed loyal to us. That means a lot. He was one of the guys that was at the forefront. He was one of the earliest com- mits that we had. "As a player, I think he's consistent. He's a good route runner, he's a good ball catcher, he's got good speed, he's competi- tive.
