Ending up together at NC State though was more coincidence. More important is the fact that two are good prospects. Rivals. com ranked Hill the No. 83 prospect in talent-rich Georgia and the No. 62 offensive tackle nationally. "I don't think they recruited each other," Doeren noted. "As guys in today's cell phone society, I guess you would say, [they] can connect regardless of whether they're in Georgia or whatever. I think our guys do that. "There's a lot of communication that they have with each other where they get to build relationships if they're not in the same state." In February, well-regarded Anthony 9 Eight who NC State inked during the early signing period played multiple sports on the prep level. The Wolfpack added another two- sport athlete to the fold February in three-star defensive lineman Nick Booker-Brown, who also plays basketball for Houston Westfield and increased the total of multiple-sport performers in the class to nine. What's notable is how good some of them are in other sports. Three-star defensive back Devan Boykin from Ragsdale High in Greensboro, N.C., averaged 16.3 points and 3.7 assists per game in basketball as a junior, while three-star wide receiver Jalen Coit from Cheraw (S.C.) High averaged more than 20 points per game on the hardwood in his career. Both were among the early enrollees and thus are skipping their senior years in hoops. Two-star wide receiver Anthony Smith won the Maryland state 3-A title this winter in the indoor track championship with a blistering personal best of 6.36 seconds in the 55-meter dash and 34.49 seconds in the 300. He was also second in the high jump with a leap of 6-foot-6, two inches off his personal best. Smith's time in the 55 ranked tied for 13th nationally during the indoor season, while his 300 time was 16th. As a junior, three-star wide receiver Chris Scott from Dacula (Ga.) High was sixth in the Georgia 6-A state outdoor track championships in the 100-meter dash (10.96 seconds) and fifth in the 200 (21.94 seconds). His personal bests in both races are 10.79 and 21.83 seconds, respectively. Three-star cornerback Aydan White is a three- time Independent Schools Division 1 state champ for Christ School near Asheville, N.C., in the 110-meter hurdles and added a high jump title in 2019. Four-star defensive lineman Davin Vann set a new personal best in the indoor shot put with a throw of 59-9, a mark that when he posted it in late January ranked among the top 10 in the country. In February, Vann would win North Carolina's indoor 4-A state title in the shot put with a heave of 56-10.25. He finished second in the event at the 4-A outdoor state champion - ships a year ago and followed that up by plac- ing third at the 2019 New Balance Nationals Outdoor during the summer. Vann also won a state heavyweight wrestling title last year and is accomplished in the discus. " We were looking for tough guys, competitive guys, loyal guys that love to train. I think that's the one thing in our program, is that we have to develop players. " Head coach Dave Doeren Eight players have enrolled early at NC State: • Three-star defensive back Devan Boykin of Ragsdale High in Greensboro, N.C. • Three-star wide receiver Jalen Coit of Cheraw (S.C.) High • Three-star quarterback Ben Finley of Paradise Valley High in Phoenix • Three-star offensive lineman SEAN HILL of Brookwood High in Snellville, Ga. • Three-star offensive lineman Ethan Lane of Archer High in Lawrenceville, Ga. • Three-star safety Nehki Meredith of Bishop Sullivan High in Virginia Beach, Va. • Three-star linebacker Jayland Parker of West - side High in Macon, Ga. • Four-star wide receiver Porter Rooks of Myers Park High in Charlotte 8 PHOTO COURTESY RIVALS.COM 28 ■ THE WOLFPACKER
