THE WOLVERINE 2020 FOOTBALL PREVIEW ■ 17 MICHIGAN FOOTBALL Michigan Loses Its Hold On The Game's All-Time Best Winning Percentage After a 9-4 campaign in 2019, the Wolverines now sit in third place on college football's all-time winning percentage list behind Ohio State and Boise State, respectively. Granted, the separation is minimal between the three clubs, with U-M residing just .0003 points behind the Buckeyes. An incredible run by OSU over the last eight years in particular —a 99-10 record since the start of the 2012 campaign — has allowed it to gradually climb up the list and take over the top spot. Notre Dame has long been on the Maize and Blue's heels in the win- ning percentage race, currently checking in .00111 points behind U-M for fourth place on the list. The Big Ten has the most programs of any conference on the table below, with Nebraska and Penn State rounding out the group at No. 9 and No. 10, respectively. The league with the next most is the Big 12, with Oklahoma slotting in at No. 6 and Texas at No. 7. The SEC — having produced 10 of the game's last 14 national cham- pions — has just one representative in the top 10, with Alabama leading the way at No. 5. — Austin Fox Michigan sat .03143 points behind Ohio State heading into last year on the all-time Big Ten standings list, but has seen that num- ber grow to .03518 following a year in which it went 9-4 and the Buckeyes concluded at 13-1. The Maize and Blue still hold a comfortable margin over third- place Penn State, however, who sit .07039 points back of the Wol- verines and aren't in striking distance. Michigan State, Nebraska and Wisconsin are the only three other Big Ten schools whose all- time conference records are above .500, with seven of the 14 league members having posted a losing mark in Big Ten action. The two newcomers — Rutgers and Maryland — reside at the bottom of the list, having won just seven and 14 games, respec- tively, since joining the conference prior to the 2014 season. — Austin Fox ALL-TIME BIG TEN STANDINGS Rk.
