4 THE WOLVERINE AUGUST 2020 On if former quarterback Denard Robinson is M ichigan's football player of the 2010-19 decade … • I'd say most important. Not sure about best. He's way up there and defi- nitely tops offensively, but I'd probably go with [linebacker] Devin Bush. [De- fensive tackle] Maurice Hurst would be up there as well. But Robinson kept the program relevant for a while. The Brady Hoke years were dark, but would have been a black hole without Robinson. — pickles24 • Quarterback of the only Michigan team to win 11 games and win a BCS/ New Year's Six game this decade. Sixth in Heisman voting in 2010. I'd have to say yes. — Hail__Blue • Yes, with Bush second. — mike1102 • I think so. The fact that I'm struggling to come up with someone for second is pretty amazing. Devin Bush? Jabrill Peppers? Maybe Jeremy Gallon? — LosAngelesWolverine • Robinson was also the only Michigan QB that decade to beat OSU. — bluex2 • No one else is close [to Robinson]. — martyk • Agree. There is Denard and then ev- eryone else. He could have won the Heisman. — aparent1969 • I think you have to put Jabrill Pep- pers' name in the running here. He was impactful in a number of ways. — VictorVal • I honestly think it is Peppers, but De- nard obviously is a great pick. Peppers is the best all-around football player I've seen since Charles Woodson. He could have been an All-American at several positions. Peppers or Denard, and Bush is right there. — Wolverinebeach • Do yourself a favor and go back and watch Denard's highlights. I forgot how ridiculously explosive he was. — tony1derful • Jabrill Peppers. He was a two-year starter on our two best defenses of the decade, the best punt return man since Desmond Howard, played all three phases, a Heisman finalist and the best player on two teams that went a com- bined 20-6. — dangoldss • Agree on Denard and those who put Bush second. I'd also put Gallon and [tackle Taylor] Lewan in the conversa- tion for No. 2. Peppers is a tough one because he only played two seasons and never appeared in a bowl game. He is right there with Denard and Bush for tal- ent and excitement, but production wise his limited appearances knock him down a peg. Plus, despite his play- making ability, he didn't make any big plays in the big games. — Big Ten Blue • How is [cornerback] Jourdan Lewis not being mention more in this conver- sation? All the guy did was just not give up completions … pretty much ever. He had some good kick returns as well. I love Denard, but it's hard to argue that Lewis wasn't thoroughly more dominant at his position than Robin- son was at his. — ImissMichigan • Denard was definitely the best offen- sively and most exciting, but Bush was the best player overall. I actually think he was underrated in college despite some accolades. He was dominant. — Amaizingblue On the video clips of 6-8, 280- pound, three-star Michigan offen- sive line commit Tristan Bounds working out that EJ Holland posted to TheWolverine.com … • Kid's going to be a stud. Add weight and he's a first-round pick at LT. He'll be a prototype LT. — thedude2403 • He certainly has a world of potential with that height, size and agility. — BlueSwede94 • Wow, he hasn't even filled out yet, but also at that size looks like a great athlete already. I was expecting a bit different or maybe more of a stiffer, skinny guy. Looks like a great prospect. — dpre9 • He has some long arms. Never a bad thing for an OL. Quite the potential, in my opinion. — Nevershank August 2020 • Vol. 31, No. 12 ISSN 1048-9940 Editor John Borton TheWolverine.com Editor Chris Balas Football Recruiting Writer EJ Holland Staff Writers Austin Fox, Drew Hallett Bob Miller, Clayton Sayfie Managing Editor Ryan Tice Contributing Editor Steve Downey Layout And Design Jeanette Blankenship Chris Miller Contributing Photographers Lon Horwedel Per Kjeldsen Cover Photos Lon Horwedel and Per Kjeldsen Publisher Stu Coman Business Manager Linda Autry Marketing/Merchandise Manager Beverly Taylor Director Of Advertising Michelle Delee-Hamilton Customer Service Cathy Jones, Laura Thornton The Wolverine is published monthly.
