10 THE WOLVERINE OCTOBER 2020   INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS BY THE NUMBERS 2nd Nationally is where Michigan wrestling was ranked in FloWrestling's 2020‑21 NCAA team dual meet rankings, which were released in mid‑ August. Eight of 10 starters for third‑year head coach SEAN BORMET were included in the website's individual national top 25 for their weight class, including four in the top five: sixth‑year senior Stevan Micic (No. 3 at 133), sixth‑year senior Logan Massa (No. 5 at 165), sixth‑year senior Myles Amine (No. 2 at 174) and junior Mason Parris (No. 2 at heavyweight). Micic, Massa and Amine all took Olympic redshirts last year. Five of the top seven teams hailed from the Big Ten: No. 1 Iowa, No. 2 Michigan, No. 3 Penn State, No. 5 Nebraska and No. 7 Ohio State. Five Wolverines made McShay's position rankings: Evans — No. 4 among running backs (50th overall) Collins* — No. 6 among wide receivers (26th) 5th‑Sr. Nick Eubanks — No. 10 among tight ends (149th) R‑So. Jalen Mayfield — No. 7 among offensive tackles (67th) Paye — No. 5 among defensive ends (47th) * Has opted out for the 2020 college season THEY SAID IT Mike's a very flexible player. I don't think he's played tackle since high school, but he played a number of positions for us in training camp — guard, tackle, we saw tight end there in the game [Sept. 13]. Similar but different than [former Patriots standout Nate] Solder. When Solder was drafted, of course, he was a first-round pick but came in and played the majority of his rookie year at right tackle and the jumbo tight end position. "Mike's earned playing time and he's been able to play different spots for us. Right now, our two guards are pretty es- tablished players and they played well. If we can find ways to utilize our person- nel productively, then we'll try to do that. But Mike's a smart kid and he's got good versatility, he's worked hard and he's embraced the opportunity to play differ- ent positions. … He learns quickly and is able to utilize his skills to be productive." — New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick on rookie Mike Onwenu, a sixth-round pick who started the first two games of the season as an extra offensive lineman/jumbo tight end. He has played 37.5 percent of his team's offensive snaps through two weeks.
