JUDGMENT CALL Straight Talk Express Nittany Lions take unflinching approach to off-season prep I t was hard to read Allen Robinson's expression when he was asked following the Blue-White Game about the decision to hook Bill O'Brien up to Beaver Stadium's public address system in the third quarter and broadcast his sideline patter to the entire stadium. Was that a bemused grin or a horrified grimace? The former, apparently. "It was kind of funny, just knowing what kind of guy he can be on the field," the junior receiver said, shaking his head in apparent disbelief that someone at PSU actually approved this plan. "He's a tough guy on the field. He pushes us." O'Brien, as we've come to learn over the past 16 months, is a pretty straight shooter. He's a tactful and gracious public speaker, and he's used those qualities to gently urge the Penn State community to move forward in the wake of the Sandusky scandal and the subsequent skirmishes between trustees, alumni, elected officials, NCAA executives, JoePa loyalists, conspiracy theorists, media provocateurs, TV talk show hosts, former FBI directors, etc. But he knows what he wants to see between the white lines, and if he doesn't see it, well, let's just say you don't want to be within earshot.
