TRACKING THE PACK

■ Hungry Defense
NC State started a new tradition Oct. 10 at Virginia. It instituted
the "Takeaway Bone" (being held by sophomore linebacker
Jaylon Scott, after grabbing an interception against Duke the
following week). The red-painted, extra-large dog bone is given
to a defender who gets a turnover. Afterward, that player also
gets to sign it. The motivating tactic seemed to work. NC State
forced seven turnovers on defense in the Virginia and Duke
games combined.
