FEBRUARY 2021 15 2014. As a member of the Cavaliers' 2014 College World Series team, he led the ACC in home runs and RBI while setting the school record for walks in a season with 61. His .517 on-base per- centage in 2013 is still the second high- est by any UVA player. He became a first-round pick of the Cleveland Indians in the 2014 MLB Draft. RHP JOSH SBORZ (2013-15) Sborz is responsible for one of the most dominant postseason performances in the history of college baseball. He was a do-it-all pitcher during his time in blue and orange, but etched his name in Omaha lore as a reliever in 2015. En route to the program's first national championship, Sborz made eight appear- ances in the 2015 NCAA Tournament and did not allow an earned run. He did not allow an earned run over the final 27 innings of his UVA career, including all 13 of his innings in Omaha. He was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2015 College World Series and his 14 career NCAA Tournament appearances, 0.51 ERA, six wins and three saves are all UVA postseason records. He was selected 74th overall in the 2015 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers and made his debut with the club on June 20, 2019. Sborz pitched for the world champion Dodgers in the summer of 2020. LHP BRANDON WADDELL (2013-15) Waddell, affectionately known to the UVA baseball faithful as "Big Game Brandon," started more games than any other pitcher in UVA history including a school-record 19 in 2015. But his best was always reserved for the NCAA Tournament. The left-hander made five College World Series starts between 2014 and 2015, and won all five games. He's one of seven pitchers ever to throw a complete game in the College World Series and his five career College World Series starts are the fifth most in the history of college baseball. He owns UVA postseason records for starts, wins, innings and strikeouts. His name is littered all over the UVA pitch- ing record books, ranking in the top 10 with 312 innings pitched, 21 wins and 246 career strikeouts. He was picked in the fifth round of the 2015 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates and made his major league debut with the Pirates on Aug. 14, 2020. Wad- dell is currently a pitcher in the Minne- sota Twins organization. Brandon Waddell started more games than any other pitcher in UVA history, including a school-record 19 in 2015.
