Women's Basketball (14-5, 9-4 Big Ten) The Wolverines capped the regular season with a 63-58 triumph over Northwestern March 6, but fell 65-49 to the Wildcats in the Big Ten Tournament March 11 … U-M earned a No. 6 seed in the River Walk Region of the NCAA Tournament — the best seed ever in program history — and was slated to face No. 11 seed Florida Gulf Coast March 21 in San Antonio … Four Wolverines earned All-Big Ten honors — junior forward Naz Hillmon (Player of the Year), junior guard/forward Leigha Brown (second-team), fifth-year senior guard Akienreh Johnson (All-Defensive) and senior forward Hailey Brown (Sportsmanship Award). Men's Cross Country U-M finished second out of five teams March 5 at Florida State's Last Chance Invitational during its lone regular-season meet of the year … Fifth-year senior Devin Meyrer competed individually at the NCAA Championships March 15 in Stillwa- ter, Okla., and placed 24th to earn All-America honors. Women's Cross Country The Wolverines put together a perfect 15-point score to come in first out of four teams at Florida State's Last Chance Invitational March 5 … Michigan competed in the NCAA Championships for the 19th consecutive season March 15 Stillwater, Okla., and placed 17th to notch the program's 10th straight top-20 finish. Men's Golf Michigan placed 12th out of 18 teams at the Border Olym- pics Feb. 22-23 in Laredo, Texas. Women's Golf The Maize and Blue finished third out of 14 teams at the Florida State Match Up Feb. 26-28 in Tallahassee, Fla. Men's Gymnastics (5-0, 4-0 Big Ten) Michigan took down No. 7 Illinois and No. 3 Nebraska in the season's first in-person meet Feb. 21 in Champaign, Ill. … The Wolverines defeated No. 6 Iowa March 6 in their home opener … U-M won all six team events in a 412.800-384.400 win over No. 10 Minnesota on Senior Day March 14. Field Hockey (2-1, 2-0 Big Ten) The Wolverines began their season March 5 with a 2-1 tri- umph over Indiana … Sophomore forward/midfielder Sarah Pyrtek scored the game-winning goal at the 53:44 mark in a 1-0 win at Iowa March 12. Ice Hockey (15-10-1, 11-9-0 Big Ten) Michigan closed the regular season with a 4-2 loss at No. 3 Minnesota March 6, and earned the No. 3 seed in the Big Ten Tournament as a result … The Wolverines blanked Ohio State 4-0 March 14 in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals, but fell 3-2 in overtime to Minnesota in the semifinals March 15. Men's Lacrosse (0-4, 0-4 Big Ten) Junior Nick Rowlett won 25 faceoffs and had 16 ground balls (both school records) in U-M's 22-12 loss at No. 5 Rutgers March 6, and was then awarded with Big Ten Specialist of the Week honors March 9. Women's Lacrosse (2-3, 2-3 Big Ten) Junior midfielder Kaitlyn Mead posted her first hat trick of the season in a 12-9 setback at No. 10 Maryland Feb. 28. Rowing Michigan finished first out of three teams at Louisville's Car- dinal Invitational March 14 in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Softball (9-3, 9-3 Big Ten) Senior Meghan Beaubien was named the Big Ten's Co- Pitcher of the Week March 2 after posting a 0.67 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 21 innings during Michigan's season-opening week in Florida Feb. 26-27 against Purdue and Iowa, respec- tively … Beaubien tossed the fifth no-hitter of her career in U-M's 2-1 victory over Nebraska March 11.
