The Brighton, Mich., native earned a 7-3 decision against Nebraska's top-ranked and previously un- beaten Eric Schultz in the final to capture the Wolver- ines' first individual Big Ten title since 2018 and the first in his weight class since Tyrel Todd in 2009. With the win, Amine improved to 6-0 on the season, having beaten nationally ranked opponents in five straight bouts. He was then rewarded with the No. 1 seed for the NCAA Championships March 18-20 in St. Louis. Junior heavyweight Mason Parris finished as the runner-up for a second straight season, falling by a score of 12-4 to Minnesota's top-ranked Gable Steve- son in the final for his first loss of the 2021 campaign. Other notable results included redshirt freshman Cameron Amine taking third at 165 pounds and sixth- year senior Logan Massa placing fourth at 174. The Wolverines finished fourth out of the 14 squads in the powerhouse Big Ten, with 92 team points. In addition to Myles Amine, seven other Wolver- ines qualified for the NCAA Championships — Par- ris (No. 2 seed), Massa (No. 5), 125-pound freshman Dylan Ragusin (No. 11), 149-pound fifth-year se- nior Kanen Storr (No. 11), Cameron Amine (No. 11), 157-pound redshirt sophomore Will Lewan (No. 14) and redshirt junior 141-pounder Drew Mattin (No. 25). WOMEN'S GYMNASTICS SETS PROGRAM RECORD IN BACK-TO-BACK MEETS The No. 4 Michigan women's gymnastics team posted a program-record score of 198.025 in its win at the Ohio State Quad meet March 7, but it didn't stand for long. In its next outing five days later, the squad reset the record with a 198.100 showing at Maryland. The latter score was fueled by the Wolverines notch- ing an all-time best tally of 49.600 on the balance beam and a score of 49.800 on the vault, which ranks second in school history. U-M swept the event titles against the Terps, led by sophomore Gabby Wilson, who won the all-around, floor and beam. The Wolverines will next compete at the Big Ten Championships in Minneapolis March 20. — Clayton Sayfie Men's Soccer (3-1, 3-1 Big Ten) Freshman midfielder Bryce Blevins earned Big Ten Offen- sive Player of the Week honors March 9 after scoring the golden goal in the Wolverines' 1-0 overtime triumph over Rutgers March 7 … It was the first goal of Blevins' career. Women's Soccer (3-1-2, 3-1-2 Big Ten) Senior Hillary Beall was tabbed the Big Ten's Goalkeeper of the Week Feb. 23 after she made a career-best 15 saves in a 1-1 double-overtime draw at Ohio State Feb. 20. Women's Swimming And Diving (4-0, 4-0 Big Ten) The Maize and Blue finished second (out of 13 teams) be- hind Ohio State at the Big Ten Championships Feb. 23-27 in Minneapolis … Twelve Wolverines will compete in the NCAA Championships March 17-20 in Greensboro, N.C. Men's Tennis (6-1, 6-0 Big Ten) Michigan began Big Ten play by ripping off six consecu- tive victories, including a 4-3 win over No. 8 Ohio State March 14. Women's Tennis (10-1, 10-0 Big Ten) Fifth-year senior Chiara Lommer was named Big Ten Athlete of the Week March 9 after leading U-M to victo- ries over Illinois and No. 7 Northwestern March 6-7 … She went 2-0 at the No. 2 singles spot and paired up with freshman Jaedan Brown for a 2-0 mark at the No. 1 dou- bles spot between the two contests … Lommer grabbed her 100th career singles win in Michigan's 5-2 triumph at Maryland March 14. Men's Track And Field Michigan placed seventh out of 12 teams at the Big Ten Indoor Championships Feb. 25-27 in Geneva, Ohio … The Wolverines finished tied for 18th out of 63 teams at the NCAA Indoor Championships March 11-13 in Fayetteville, Ark. Women's Track And Field U-M came in second out of 12 programs at the Big Ten Indoor Championships Feb. 25-27 in Geneva, Ohio … The distance medley relay team quartet of senior Alice Hill, sophomore Lauren Fulcher, and freshmen Ziyah Holman and Katelynne Hart tallied a season-best 11:04.65 to take fifth overall at the NCAA Indoor Championships March 12 in Fayetteville, Ark. Volleyball (4-3, 4-3 Big Ten) Michigan picked up its first win of the 2021 campaign with a 3-1 rivalry victory over Michigan State Feb. 17. Water Polo (9-4, 0-0 CWPA) Sophomore utility player Anne Rankin was named CWPA Player of the Week March 10 after compiling six points in U-M's three-contest series at No. 16 San Diego State March 6-7. — Austin Fox Sixth-year senior Myles Amine won the Wolverines' first indi- vidual Big Ten wrestling title since 2018 and was rewarded with the No. 1 seed at 197 pounds for the NCAA Championships March 18-20 in St. Louis.
