tensive experience in four seasons of ac- tion, averaging 10.1 points and 3.1 assists per game throughout 120 contests, high- lighted by his averages of 14.1 points and 3.8 assists as a senior last year. Notably, Cornwall shot 41 percent from 3-point range, a rate that surpasses the season per- centages for all of Penn State's starters and bench players last season. Cornwall's announcement was quickly followed by the addition of Siena's Jalen Pickett, a highly sought guard who aver- aged 12.9 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.8 as- sists per game last season. Pickett had been the Metro Atlantic Athletic Confer- ence Player of the Year in 2019-20 and won the MAAC's Rookie of the Year honor with 15.8 points and 6.7 assists per game during the 2018-19 campaign. Considered by ESPN to be a top-25 over- all transfer and among the "best available guards" in the transfer portal this off- season, Pickett selected the Nittany Lions over Oregon State, Miami, Michigan, Gonzaga and Baylor. Not finished in the transfer market, Shrewsberry and his staff also formally welcomed Jevonnie Scott from South Plains College on May 18. Listed as a 6- foot-7, 240-pound forward, Scott joins the Nittany Lions after averaging 11.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game last season for the Texans, who climbed to a No. 1 ranking in the National Junior Col- lege Athletic Association and bowed out in the quarterfinals of the NJCAA tourna- ment on April 22. Scott brings versatility at both ends of the floor and boosts a ros- ter that saw three of its six designated forwards depart this off-season. STILL TO GO The Nittany Lions con- tinue to explore their options in the transfer market as the staff looks to com- plete the team's roster for next season. The NCAA's 13-player scholarship limit won't be in effect next season due to the bonus year of eligibility that last year's seniors received, and Penn State can still add to a roster that includes nine scholar- ship players. The team's priorities include landing a wing, as well as a forward or center considering the relative lack of depth in the frontcourt in the absence of Buttrick and Tsimbila. ■ No. 76 in Lou Prato's book Autographed copies available via louprato@comcast.net or through Lou Prato & Associates at 814-954-5171 Price: $16.95 plus shipping, handling and tax where applicable Also available with autograph: Lou's book We Are Penn State: The Remarkable Journey of the 2012 Nittany Lions Price: $19.95 plus shipping, handling and tax where applicable
