DIAMOND JOHNSON
Women's Basketball
If the 2021 U19 FIBA World Cup is any indication, NC State transfer newcomer Diamond Johnson
should have a big impact on the Wolfpack women's basketball program.
That was already expected, though, after Johnson averaged 17.6 points per game as a freshman
at Rutgers and was named second-team All-Big Ten. The 5-5 Philadelphia native further solidified
herself as a key addition to a team with Final Four hopes at NC State by shining at the World Cup
and helping Team USA win the gold.
Johnson led the squad with 15 points in the title game, shooting 6 of 10 from the field and mak-
ing three three-pointers. She scored in double figures in six of the team's seven outings, all wins,
and finished with averages of 12.6 points, 3.3 assists and 2.3 steals per contest. She made 51.1 per-
cent of her field goal attempts.
Johnson is one of two transfers signed by head coach Wes Moore during the offseason, joining
Mississippi State guard Madison Hayes, and will wear No. 0 for the Wolfpack.
