The Notre Dame women's soccer team de-
feated Purdue 1-0 Sept. 2 to advance its record
to 4-0-1. Senior forward Olivia Wingate re-
corded the game winner off a set piece in the
59th minute of the match.
The play came on a corner kick by graduate
student midfielder Sammi Fisher. The ball was
sent deep to the far side of the six-yard box,
where it was met by sophomore defender Eva
Wirtz. She then headed it back to the middle
where Wingate buried it with her head into the
corner for the goal.
The victory versus the Boilermakers gave the
Fighting Irish an unbeaten start through five
games for the second time in three years.
