46 SEPT. 18, 2021 BLUE & GOLD ILLUSTRATED FOOTBALL RECRUITING ROUNDUP RECRUITING NOTES • Notre Dame hosted a few dozen recruits on cam- pus when the Irish played Toledo Sept. 11, and one of those prospects was in for an "official" visit, mean- ing that the staff paid his way up to South Bend. That player was Pike Road (Ala.) High's Quinshon Jud- kins, who Rivals ranks as a high three-star prospect, the No. 18 player from his home state of Alabama and the No. 30 running back in America. Judkins received a schol- arship offer from Notre Dame on March 30. He hasn't been a top-of-the- board target until recently, after the Irish struck out on other players. "I got on the phone with [running backs] Coach [Lance] Taylor, and he told me that he wanted me here and that we could do big things on the field," Judkins told Blue & Gold Illustrated after he received the Notre Dame offer. "It was a big-time offer for me; I was excited about it." Last fall, Judkins was a big part in leading Pike Road to an undefeated regular season, but his squad fell in the second round of the class 5A Alabama state playoffs. Per MaxPreps, Judkins ran for 1,482 yards and 25 touchdowns on 150 carries as a junior. Judkins was named to the 2020 Alabama Sportswriter Association 5A All-State first-team offense. • Fond du Lac (Wis.) St. Mary's Springs offensive guard Billy Schrauth, the nation's No. 125 overall recruit and No. 4 player at his position per Rivals, is down to Notre Dame and Wisconsin. He told BadgerBlitz.com in early September that he has grown tired of the recruiting process and would like to make a decision as soon as possible. "With either one, I feel like I get along with the players and the coaches," Schrauth said. "Notre Dame was great to me, and, like Wisconsin, I see myself fitting into that culture at both programs." Notre Dame was the heavy favorite for most of Schrauth's recruitment, but the Badgers caught up and likely have taken the lead. • Amarillo (Texas) Tascosa class of 2022 offensive weapon Major Ever- hart, a three-star talent and the No. 13 all-purpose back in America, tells BGI that he will take an official visit to Notre Dame when the Fighting Irish host Purdue Sept. 18. This will be his fourth official visit but first out of state — he took trips to Baylor, TCU and Texas Tech in June. During the 2020 football season, Everhart rushed for 839 yards and eight touchdowns in seven games.
