Feature Performer: Bauer was all over the stat sheet with a couple tack- les, a sack and one pass broken up. He made the most of his first career start by disrupting the Cavaliers' offense in a variety of ways. Stats: Virginia gained 108 yards to Notre Dame's 69, but the Irish still ended up on the right side of the score- board in the quarter. The Irish gained 6.9 yards per play to Virginia's 4.2. Items: Virginia missed a 44-yard field goal on its first drive of the quar- ter … Coan was intercepted on Notre Dame's second play of the quarter when he overthrew a deep shot intended for Austin … Notre Dame had a fumble re- covery reversed by video review … The Irish punted for the first time in the game with less than eight minutes re- maining in the quarter … Mills recorded a sack on a fourth-and-five play from the Notre Dame 28-yard line … A 31- yard end-around from Lenzy set up the Austin touchdown. FOURTH QUARTER NOTRE DAME 28, VIRGINIA 3 Top Moment: Senior safety DJ Brown put the game on ice with an interception in the end zone with 29 seconds left. All Notre Dame had to do from there was kneel down once for it to be official. Feature Performer: True freshman quarterback Tyler Buchner got to com- mand an entire series with the game in hand in the fourth quarter.
