44 NOV. 20, 2021 BLUE & GOLD ILLUSTRATED FOOTBALL RECRUITING ROUNDUP RECRUITING NOTES • Notre Dame extended two new offers in the 2023 class when Navy came to town Nov. 6. Cambridge (Mass.) Bucking- ham Browne & Nichols athlete Ronan Hanafin received the good news from offensive co- ordinator Tommy Rees before kickoff. The Irish offered Hanafin as an "athlete" because the 6-3, 206-pounder plays both wide receiver and a position similar to Notre Dame's rover spot. With Rees offering Hanafin, it is likely that the junior prospect would play on offense, but it is some- thing worth monitoring moving forward. Notre Dame joined Boston College, Maryland, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, West Virginia and others on Hanafin's offer sheet. Liberty Township (Ohio) Lakota East offensive lineman Austin Siereveld didn't receive his first scholarship offer until late October from Michigan State. Since then, he's added offers from Illinois, Notre Dame, Ohio State, West Virginia and others. Siereveld received the Notre Dame offer from offensive line coach Jeff Quinn. Rivals has not ranked either Hanafin or Siereveld. • Another new offer dished out by the Irish staff went to Nashville (Tenn.) Lipscomb Academy's Kaleb Beasley, a four-star cornerback recruit who is on Rivals' top-100 watch list for the class of 2024. Beasley visited for the Navy game as well and loved his experience in South Bend. "It was awesome," he said. "The facilities and campus were so nice, and the coaches were all cool. The thing I liked most was that Notre Dame cares a lot about academics along with football. "Five hours before the game at 10 a.m., people were already out there on campus. People in the area live for Notre Dame football. It was awesome." Beasley's high school head coach is Trent Dilfer, a former NFL quarterback who played for five teams across 14 seasons. He led the Baltimore Ravens to a Super Bowl XXXV victory in 2001. • While Notre Dame is still working on quarterback recruiting in the 2022 class, Rees and Co. are getting a head start on 2024 and have already offered several signal callers. Burleson (Texas) High's Dylan Raiola is the latest gunslinger to receive an offer from the Irish, and Notre Dame joins Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Ohio State, Texas and others on his offer sheet. Raiola is the son of former Nebraska offensive lineman Dominic Raiola, who went on to play for the Detroit Lions from 2001-14. — Mike Singer Quarterback Steve Angeli, 6-3, 215, Oradell, N.J.
