JANUARY 2022 THE WOLVERINE 43   FOOTBALL RECRUITING entire side of the field. Played a lot of safety as a senior as a way to allow him to make more plays. Showed versatility and the ability to move around in the secondary. Underrated athlete who was a dan- gerous weapon at wide receiver, starred in basketball and led South to the state track meet. Some have questioned a lack of verified times, but game speed, especially at his size, checks out. 2. S KEON SABB BRADENTON (FLA.) IMG ACADEMY Consensus Ranking: High four- star (top 100-125 prospect nationally) EJ's Ranking: High four-star (top 50-75 prospect nationally) EJ's Evaluations: 7v7, Film EJ's Scouting Report: I have Sabb ranked a tad higher than all of the re- cruiting services. I saw him live as a ju- nior in a club 7v7 tournament, and he was far and away the best prospect in a loaded event in Orlando with a ton of talent from the Southeast. He has only grown and added weight since then, but he hasn't lost his athleticism or ability to make plays on the ball. Sabb moves really well at the safety spot and has a knack for creating turnovers. Grew up playing basketball and can high point the ball better than most receivers. Great change of direction despite size. Length and build make him look taller than 6-2. An intimidating enforcer at 200 pounds who can serve as a box safety or even spin down and be an ath- letic linebacker. Reminds me of former USC All-America safety Taylor Mays, a 2010 second-round draft pick, who camped at 218 pounds as a recruit. 3. S ZEKE BERRY CONCORD (CALIF.) DE LA SALLE Consensus Ranking: Mid four-star (top 125-150 prospect nationally) EJ's Ranking: High four-star (top 50-75 prospect nationally) EJ's Evaluations: Game, Film EJ's Scouting Report: Berry is in line to take over the Daxton Hill role as soon as the latter departs Michigan. Compact build at 6-0, 195 pounds. Comes down- hill in a hurry and lays the wood. Tre- mendous closing speed with the ability to react quickly. Can play in the box if needed due to his physicality, but also comfortable playing deep safety thanks to his ball skills and instincts. Experience playing wide receiver helps him as a tracker. Also has the ability to play corner. Extremely versatile, which is why the Hill role suits him well. Great student and high football IQ. Will learn quickly. Elite technique. Has received great coaching at national powerhouse De La Salle and through his club 7v7 team, KT Prep. Future team captain with a ton of positive leadership qualities. 4. WR DARRIUS CLEMONS PORTLAND (ORE.) WESTVIEW Consensus Ranking: High four- star (top 75-100 prospect nationally) EJ's Ranking: High four-star (Top 50-75 prospect nationally) EJ's Evaluations: 7v7, Film EJ's Scouting Report: First saw Clemons as an underclassman at a club 7v7 tournament. An imposing 6-3, 205-pound outside wide receiver that immediately pops out on the hoof and can go up and get the ball. Displays ex- cellent body control, especially on jump balls in the red zone. However, Clemons is much more than that. A freak athlete with laser-verified 4.37 40 speed, Clemons can stretch the field and get vertical. His unique blend of size and speed will create plenty of mismatches on the outside. Also has a thick build with strong hands to make tough grabs in traffic and over the middle. Can continue to improve as a route runner but arguably the most dan- gerous weapon in Michigan's 2022 class. 5. WR TYLER MORRIS PLAINFIELD (ILL.) EAST Consensus Ranking: Mid four-star (top 125-150 prospect nationally) EJ's Ranking: High four-star (top 50-75 prospect nationally) EJ's Evaluations: Game (two), 7v7 (six), Private Workout (three), Film EJ's Scouting Report: Morris has seen a drop in the rankings due to a torn ACL suffered in the spring. When fully healthy, he is one of the most dy- namic pass catchers in the country. Elite hands, the best I've ever covered. Reminds me a lot of All-America Ohio State wide receiver Garrett Wilson. Doesn't pop from a frame standpoint but built well in the right places. Underrated athlete and former Junior Olympics high jumper. Great leaping abil- ity. A technical and crafty route runner who understands how to create separation and get open. Fluid hips. Gets in and out of breaks extremely well. Also received DI interest as a defensive back. Morris is a clear top-100 recruit (at least) at full health. 6. DT KENNETH GRANT MERRILLVILLE (IND.) HIGH Consensus Ranking: Low four-star (top 250-300 prospect nationally) EJ's Ranking: High four-star (top 100-125 prospect nationally) E J 's E v a l u a t i o n s : Game (three), Practice (four), Film EJ's Scouting Report: A massive human be- ing at 6-4, 335 pounds, Grant gives Michigan the true nose tackle it needs in Mike Macdonald's new defensive scheme. He's a perfect fit in the middle, taking up multiple block- ers and allowing lineback- ers to make plays. Has the size, strength and power to create a big push on a consistent ba- sis. Much more than just a run stuffer. Has great feet Kenneth Grant is a four-star prospect and the nation's No. 279 overall recruit per the On3 Consensus. Listed at 6-4, 335 pounds, he gives the Wolverines a true nose tackle. PHOTO BY EJ HOLLAND
