LAST RIDE
When Kim Kirschnick rode out of
the tunnel on Nov. 27 for the Cava-
liers' last home game of the 2021
season, it marked the end of an era.
It was Kirschnick's final time leading
Virginia onto the field at Scott Sta-
dium after 21 seasons.
He is retiring from the position after
being a fixture for Cavalier football
for two decades. During that time, he
has relied on four different horses —
all known as Sabre — to play a key
role in Virginia's game day pageantry.
He was honored on the field during
the game and received a standing
ovation for his years of service.
