MARCH/APRIL 2022 ■ 23 Broussard explained that the proj- ect's primary goal is to address the needs of players so that Avent has the tools to enhance his program's success and potential. "Elliott and his staff for years and years have punched above their weight as it relates to bringing in kids and de- veloping the kind of talent that you need to be competitive," Broussard said. "These upgrades that we are working on will at least level the playing field so El- liott and his staff can continue to bring in the quality of young men that we need to be competitive in this league." That includes a new locker room, team lounge with nutrition and sports medicine, a weight room, and an in- door batting facility and pitching lab. Other facility improvements will in- clude a new playing surface, LED lighting, a scoreboard and sound sys- tem upgrades, relocated bullpens and branding opportunities. For the fans, there will be upgraded seating, premium entertainment space, concession improvements and a new shaded area. Also the new amenities include a right field entrance to save some fans the climb up the hill to the gate behind home plate. "It's going to be a significant upgrade to the ballpark," Broussard said. "The fact that we are going to address some player needs is going to hopefully give them a big boost in recruiting. "Some of the wow factors are impor- tant, but we are also giving Elliott and his staff adequate space to train and de- velop their players." For Avent, this is a reward for a suc- cessful program. "Our former players are so excited because they know the commitment that they made here, and they still fol- low our program," Avent said. "They're so excited to see something happening here that's indicative of the success that this program has had and that this pro- gram deserves." ■ On the right field line, new premium tent seating will be available for fans, while an overhead on the concourse will be added. The home bullpen currently there will move behind the right field fence. The left field corner will have natural seating and a new concession area with an overhead. The visiting bullpen will be moved to behind the fence. If you are interested in learning more about supporting the Stadium Enhancement Project, please contact the Wolfpack Club at 919.865.1500.
