Adisa Isaac and Smith Vilbert, sopho- more Amin Vanover and redshirt fresh- men Rodney McGraw and Davon Town- ley. The good news for Penn State is that reinforcements are on the way. The Nit- tany Lions are set to welcome Maryland transfer Demeioun Robinson, while true freshmen Dani Dennis-Sutton and Ken Talley will also be arriving soon. Cole Brevard Enters Transfer Portal The middle of Penn State's defensive line got a little thinner in late April, with redshirt sophomore tackle Cole Brevard entering his name into transfer portal at the conclusion of spring practice. The Carmel, Ind., native was a four- star recruit in the 2020 class, according to the On3 Consensus. But last fall, he played sparingly even after senior de- fensive tackle PJ Mustipher suffered a season-ending injury in Week 6 at Iowa. Brevard's exit fulfilled a prediction that James Franklin had made dur- ing spring practice. Franklin had said it wouldn't be surprising if Penn State saw some players depart after the team wrapped up its offseason drills. "I hope we don't lose anybody," he said. "But if you look around the coun- try, that happens after spring ball. We'll have to have our antennas up." It's possible that Brevard saw his chances of earning playing time dimin- ishing at PSU. He didn't see much action in the Blue-White Game, and that may have been because of the quick emer- gence of early enrollee Zane Durant. The true freshman from Lake Nona, Fla., earned kudos from the coaching staff and appears to be a strong candidate to capture a spot on the two-deep depth chart this fall. Brevard could still return to Penn State, but that appears unlikely. Instead, the Nittany Lions are poised to go into the summer months with eight defen- sive tackles on their roster. They've got another recruit arriving soon in Kaleb Artis of St. Francis Prep in New York, though an addition from the portal shouldn't be ruled out. ■ S P R I N G F O O T B A L L 2 0 2 2 OFFENSE Quarterback No. Name Yr.
