THE BIG PICTURE U-M Baseball's Big Ten Tournament Championship The Last Snapshot Of The Erik Bakich Era The Wolverines captured their 10th Big Ten Tournament championship in program history on May 29 after a magi- cal four-day run at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Neb. Michigan played five games — winning four in four days to take the crown — defeating each of the top four seeds in the tournament along the way, including No. 2 Rutgers 10-4 in the title game. It was the program's first Big Ten tournament title since the 2015 campaign. Outfielder Clark Elliott, who later was selected by the Oakland Athletics with the 69th overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft, was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. He had 6 hits, 7 RBI and 8 runs scored in five games played in Omaha. It was one of the final signature moments for U-M under head coach Erik Bakich, who departed Michigan for his alma mater, Clemson, on June 16, 10 days after the Wolverines' season ended in the NCAA Regional finals at Louisville.
