Beilein and the Class of 2022 will be enshrined Nov. 20 in Kansas City as part of National Col- legiate Basketball Hall of Fame weekend, which also features the annual Hall of Fame Classic tour- nament. Other members of the class are former players Richard "Rip" Hamil- ton (Connecticut), Larry Miller (North Carolina), Frank Selvy (Furman) and Jimmy Walker (Provi- dence), along with coaches Jerry Krause and Lon Kruger. Coaches Jim Calhoun (UConn) and Roy Williams (UNC) also will be honored after previous recogni- tion in the founding class from 2006. Beilein coached at U-M from 2007- 19, making two NCAA championship games and winning a pair of Big Ten Tournament and regular- season titles each. His teams in Ann Arbor went 278-150 during his 12 sea- sons on the sideline. Beilein, who was never an assistant coach in his career, also spent time at Nazareth, Le Moyne, Canisius, Richmond and West Virginia and posted a 754-425 overall record in his career. He left Michi- gan in 2019 to become the head coach of the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers, but resigned before his debut season was over. Beilein is now a senior player development advi- sor with the Detroit Pis- tons with a focus on shot mechanics. Earlier this summer, he was voted for induction into the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame where he will be honored in September. — Anthony Broome John Beilein Voted Into National Collegiate Basketball Hall Of Fame Former U-M men's basketball head coach John Beilein was named one of nine inductees in the Class of 2022 for the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame.
