BLUEGOLDONLINE.COM MARCH 2023 39 2023 FOOTBALL RECRUITING ISSUE the position in Tobias Merriweather in a year that they should have signed at least three. "Enter Chansi Stuckey and Notre Dame had one of its best receiver classes in a long time. I've already made my feelings known on Greathouse; I believe he can make an impact this fall. I'm also bullish on Flores, another highly pro- ductive, big-bodied pass catcher. You shouldn't be surprised if Flores makes an impact this fall either. "James and Smith give Notre Dame's receiver room a nice injection of speed. The Irish needed an impressive receiver class, and Stuckey and Co. delivered." Lemming: "I'd say wide receiver or offensive line. They also brought in some quality defensive backs, and they have three good linebackers. But I'll go with wide receiver. They brought in four and a transfer, and that's where they were weakest at last year." BGI: What's the position group you would've liked to see Notre Dame do a better job with? Power: "I'd say pass rusher. I like the defensive linemen. They have intriguing players, but they don't have a true edge rusher to get after the passer." Singer: "It's not an easy question to answer because the Irish signed such a well-balanced, deep recruiting class. I gave safety a thought, but I'm going to go with defensive line. I actually think it's a really good group, but the Irish signed four defensive linemen who project to play strong side end or on the interior. "They didn't bring in a true high school vyper. The staff had one in five- star Keon Keeley, but he decommitted, and the Irish didn't replace him." Lemming: "Defensive line for sure. They needed an impact player. I've seen them all, and they all look like projects to me. Justin Tuck was a project when he got to Notre Dame and turned out to be an All-Pro, but you can't rely too much on projects — most of them won't make it. "They're all nice kids, but I don't see any impact players on the defensive line." ✦ On3 Consensus 1. Alabama 2. Georgia 3. Texas 4. Ohio State 5. LSU 6. Miami 7. Oklahoma 8. Oregon 9. Notre Dame 10.
