MAY 2023 ❱ THE WOLVERINE 41 ❱ MICHIGAN RECRUITING NOTEBOOK great length and athleticism to go with a well-filled-out frame. Michigan is working to get Mothudi, the No. 25 line- backer and No. 288 overall recruit na- tionally, on campus for an official visit this summer. 4. DL Charleston Collins, Pine Bluff (Ark.) Mills — Partridge also dipped down into Arkansas and put an offer on the table for Collins, who was highly interested in Ole Miss when Partridge was a staffer with the Rebels. Collins, the No. 15 defensive lineman and No. 121 overall recruit nationally, can be a bigger edge at 6-foot-4, 250 pounds but has the frame to carry plenty of weight and play the three-technique. Either way, he's a premier talent and was the winner of the DL MVP award at the Under Armour Dallas camp. 3. WR Cam Coleman, Phenix City (Ala.) Central — On3 has Coleman ranked as the No. 4 wide receiver and No. 20 overall prospect in the country, and I don't disagree. The 6-foot-4, 190-pounder is an athletic freak on the outside who can stretch the field verti- cally and also be a mismatch nightmare in the red zone. Coleman has an amaz- ing catch radius and plenty of speed and athleticism to go along with his size. He comes from the same high school as in- coming U-M freshman receiver Karm- ello English. Michigan is working to get Coleman on campus for a visit. 2. RB Taylor Tatum, Longview (Texas) High — It's hard for running backs to really shine in camp settings, but Tatum looked every part of a top-3 ball carrier nationally. The 5-foot-10, 195-pounder has a stout, muscular build and was downright explosive in individual drills. Tatum also showed his ability as a pass catcher in one-on- ones. Top-100 prospect Jordan Marshall was a monster land for Michigan, but Tatum, the No. 2 running back and No. 43 overall recruit nationally, remains a top target and may be even better. 1. TE Jaden Reddell, Raymore (Mo.) Raymore-Peculiar — Ranked as the No. 1 tight end and No. 31 overall re- cruit in the country by On3, Reddell was arguably the most impressive prospect at the Battle 7v7 tournament in New Orleans. The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder runs routes like a wide receiver, has strong hands and knows how to use his body to his advantage. Reddell is a five- star prospect and reminds me of Notre Dame's Michael Mayer, who should be a late first round NFL Draft pick. Reddell was set to visit Michigan in April and is in the process of rescheduling. — EJ Holland MICHIGAN COMMIT FEATURED IN INITIAL 2025 ON300 RANKINGS On3 released its initial On300 rank- ings for the 2025 recruiting class last month. Michigan cornerback commit Chris Ewald checked in at No. 134 nationally. He also ranks as the No. 12 cornerback in the country and No. 24 overall prospect in the state of Florida for the next cycle. The Miami Chaminade-Madonna product committed to Michigan in De- cember over offers from Auburn, Flor- ida State, Georgia, Oklahoma, Tennes- see, USC and a number of other major programs. Schools like Alabama, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame and Penn State have con- tinued to recruit Ewald over the last several months. However, Ewald is happy with his de- cision. "I feel like Michigan is the school that fit me the best out of any school in the country," Ewald said. "That comes with my personality and the type of person I am. I'm young and enjoying the process, but at the end of the day, Michigan is the school for me." Relationships also played a big role in Ewald making an early verbal pledge. "I have strong relationships with Coach Clink [Steve Clinkscale] and De- nard Robinson," Ewald said. "They are still building over time. "I like Coach Clink because he keeps it real with me. He's a player's coach. I went to one of Denard's camps when I was 9. He's from where I'm from, so we have a lot of connections." Ewald is ranked higher on two of the other major recruiting services. Because of that, he has a higher On3 Industry Jaden Reddell, a 6-foot-4, 230-pounder from Raymore, Mo., is ranked as the No. 1 tight end and No. 31 prospect nationally by On3.
