In addition to receiving a commitment from Chandler (Ariz.) High's Kennedy Urlacher May 1, the Irish hosted three other top targets on cam- pus: Davis Andrews, Oliver Miles and Paul Mencke Jr. Each one provided Blue & Gold Illustrated with a positive review of their time in South Bend. American Fork (Utah) High's Andrews, an On3 three-star, spent individual time on the golf course with former Irish safety Kyle Hamilton. "We talked about his experience at Notre Dame and why he went there," said Andrews, On3's No. 77 safety in the country and No. 11 prospect in Utah. "His main reason was that once he thought of his future, it was an easy decision." Notre Dame's safety development most impressed Miles — a three-star prospect, the No. 118 player in Texas and the No. 66 safety nationally per On3 — of El Campo (Texas) High. "Notre Dame can develop guys ready to play at the next level or to learn and take in knowledge," Miles said. "Whereas some guys are just now learning it." Cibolo (Texas) Samuel Clemens' Mencke raved about head coach Marcus Freeman. "Coach Freeman was cool," said Mencke, a four-star talent and the No. 11 safety nationally per On3. "Plus, the players said once you get here, he won't change. He's the same way he was the entire time he was recruiting you." Mencke is also On3's No. 27 prospect in Texas and No. 137 overall player in the country. Currently, the Irish only have three underclassmen scholarship safeties. As a result, Andrews, Mencke and Miles could have a chance to secure a spot in Notre Dame's 2024 class. • Linebacker has also become a topic of conversation in Notre Dame foot- ball recruiting circles. Second-year Irish defensive coordinator Al Golden still seeks his first true recruiting victory. He progressed toward it by welcoming Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco four-star linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa for the Blue-Gold Game April 22. On3's No. 23 linebacker in the class also scheduled an official visit to Notre Dame June 16-18. It will be his third reported trip to campus. "It's a great school," Viliamu-Asa said. "They have a lot to offer in every as- pect. I love the people, love the school and love the football program. There's nothing not to love about Notre Dame. They're a school I'm considering." Viliamu-Asa, On3's No. 25 pros- pect in California and No. 278 overall player nationally, also gives top con- sideration to Ohio State and South- ern California. — Kyle Kelly KYNGSTONN VILIAMU-ASA 2024 MASTER LIST CHANGES Prospects Committed: DE Cole Mullins of Hoschton, Ga.
