A senior from Millerstown, Pa., she became the first Penn State woman to record an 18-meter throw in the shot put. In doing so, she achieved another milestone, becoming the first female PSU athlete to earn first-team All-America honors in the outdoor shot put since Elaine Sobansky placed second in 1994. TJ Malone — Men's Lacrosse The graduate attackman had a spectacular after- noon in Penn State's 16-15 overtime loss to top- seeded Duke in the NCAA Tournament semifinals May 27 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. Malone finished with 8 points, which was tied for the second-highest total in an NCAA Tournament con- test in school history. Playing only 30 miles from his hometown of West Chester, Pa., Malone had 6 goals and 2 assists against the Blue Devils, with his final tally tying the score at 15-15 with 5:07 to play. He led the Big Ten this past season with an average of 4.56 points per game and was second in the league in both goals (2.44 per game) and assists (2.13). Bailey Parshall — So ball One of the most accomplished players in PSU his- tory, Parshall earned first-team all-region honors for the second year in a row from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. She went 17-9 and compiled a 1.54 ERA in her final season with the Nittany Lions. Along the way, the Belle Vernon, Pa., native totaled 176 strikeouts while walking only 28. Parshall was one of the key players in Penn State's recent softball turnaround. The Nittany Lions have gone 64-38 over the past two seasons, surpassing the 30-win mark in back-to-back campaigns for the first time since 2005-06. Handal Roban — Men's Track and Field The freshman middle-distance standout wrapped up an outstanding debut season at Penn State by placing third in the 800-meter race on June 10 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Austin, Texas. Ro- ban set a personal best by finishing in 1:45.95. It was the fourth-fastest 800-meter time in school history. Originally from the Caribbean nation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, where he set a national record in the 800 of 1:47.03, Roban became the first Nittany Lion runner to claim first-team All-America honors in the event since Isaiah Harris won it in 2018. — Matt Herb PENN STATE'S TOP PERFORMERS
