Jesuit 2025 running back Justin Thurman Aug. 1. But the 6-foot, 180-pounder's pledge will not stop the Fighting Irish's running back recruiting efforts in the next cycle. In addition to Thurman, a four-star recruit and the nation's No. 24 run- ning back and No. 262 overall player per On3, the Irish are looking to add a second back. Bryant (Ark.) High's Daniel Anderson is the current name to know. The 5-11, 190-pound Anderson received a full-ride scholarship offer from Notre Dame after participating in the program's Irish Invasion high school football camp June 4. The annual Irish Invasion is Notre Dame's non-publicized camp, featuring top evaluation-worthy recruits. On3 has yet to rate Anderson. However, he also already has scholarship offers from Mississippi State, Tennessee and Colorado. On July 30, Anderson returned to Notre Dame for its "grill & chill" recruit- ing event. About 30 recruits attended that event, including Thurman. As of Aug. 7, Thurman was the only prospect to commit to the Irish coming out of it — but Anderson might not be far behind. On3 national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman submitted an On3 Recruiting Insider Prediction forecasting an eventual Notre Dame commit- ment from Anderson. The Irish also have four-star running backs verbally committed in 2024 in Hannibal (Mo.) High's Aneyas Williams and Lufkin (Texas) High's Kedren Young. • On Aug. 1, Notre Dame coaches could permissibly begin contacting 2025 football recruits directly, per NCAA regulations. And by all indications, Indianapolis Ben Davis High cornerback Mark Zackery was the first recruit the Irish contacted at midnight. The 6-0, 155-pound Zackery is the No. 1 prospect in Indiana, and the No. 17 cornerback and No. 202 overall player in the 2025 class per On3. The four-star recruit reported 20 Power Five scholarship offers, including Ohio State, which is Notre Dame's toughest competition to land Zackery. He also visited Notre Dame for the "grill & chill" recruiting cookout July 30. • On Aug. 1, the Irish only sent out one offer and Naples (Fla.) Lely's Jayce Cora was on the receiving end of it. While On3 lists Cora as a wide receiver, Notre Dame is recruiting the 6-4, 180-pounder as a safety. Cora also reported offers from Louisville, Illinois and West Virginia. On3 has yet to rate him. — Kyle Kelly Follow @ByKyleKelly on Twitter for daily recruiting updates on BlueandGold.com! Notre Dame offered a scholarship to Bryant (Ark.)
