TRACKING THE PACK JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2024 ■ 11 Community College this season and had four games with 10 or more stops. Never Gave Up: LB Elijah Groves A four-star prospect and the No. 264 overall recruit and No. 23 linebacker in the On3 Industry Ranking, Groves origi- nally committed to Kentucky, but NC State stayed in touch. The staff's persis- tence paid off when he flipped his com- mitment in December. Well-Traveled Man: TE Dante Daniels Daniels has the farthest trek to Ra- leigh from his previous school. He's set to arrive from Butler Community College, which is located in El Dorado, Kan., about 1,100 miles from NC State's campus. The tight end is originally from Windsor, Ontario, and is the Pack's lone international signee this year. The Signal-Caller: QB Cedrick Bailey Jr. NC State signed its quarterback of the future in three-star prospect Cedrick Bailey Jr. of Hollywood, Fla. The Cham- inade-Madonna Prep standout com- pleted 215 of 301 pass attempts for 3,125 yards and 47 touchdowns in 14 games as a senior, leading the Lions to a state title. Bailey will push others in the quarter- back room when he arrives in January. He will be one to watch in spring practice. Under The Radar: OL Tyler West Although he drew interest from Duke and Georgia Tech, On3 is the only re- cruiting site to rate West as a four-star player. At 6-foot-5, 275 pounds, he has the frame to be a contributor at NC State. The Sleeper: RB Duke Scott A three-star tailback, Scott rushed for 2,482 yards and 39 touchdowns to help lead Stockbridge (Ga.) High to the state championship game this season. He might not be as highly touted as some of the Wolfpack's other signees on offense, but he is a capable player and a potential game wrecker. ■ Coastal Carolina QB Headlines Incoming Transfer Class NC State made a major addition to its offense in December when it received a commitment from transfer quar- terback Grayson McCall. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound signal-caller from Coastal Carolina will spend his final college season with the Wolfpack, capping a career that includes three Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year awards. McCall, who threw for 10,005 yards and accounted for 106 touchdowns in his first five collegiate campaigns, garnered serious interest from NC State and UCF when he entered the transfer portal. Charles Power, On3's director of scouting and rankings, said McCall's experience will be invaluable next season. The Pack is losing both of the quarterbacks who started games in 2023, with Brennan Armstrong having ex - hausted his eligibility and MJ Morris transferring to Maryland. Power said McCall has "played a lot of meaningful football. He's a guy with extensive starting experience and has really seen a lot of defenses and had a lot of reps at the college level. "I watched him closely at Coastal Carolina," Power added. "I think one of his best attributes is his ability to pro- cess and handle the speed of the game. He's very good at reading defenders, understanding how to operate in the quarterback run game … because he ran a kind of option offense in high school. He's very comfortable with that." In addition to McCall, the Pack had landed seven other transfers as of Dec. 20. Included in that group was gradu- ate center Zeke Correll, a 24-game starter for Notre Dame the past two seasons. Also, the Pack is set to welcome senior running back Jordan Waters, who rushed for 753 yards and 12 touchdowns for Duke this past season, and junior receiver Wesley Grimes, who caught 20 passes for 339 yards and 4 touchdowns for Wake Forest. As of Dec. 20, NC State's incoming transfer class was rated seventh nationally by On3. — Ethan McDowell Grayson McCall threw for 10,005 yards and 106 touchdowns in five seasons at Coastal Carolina, and he is a three-time Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year.
