The senior from Cincinnati passed 14 runners in the final stage of the six-kilometer course in Charlottesville, Va. She finished in 20:00.7, placing 28th overall and third among NC State runners, with senior Katelyn Tuohy coming in fifth and junior Amaris Tyynismaa 25th. Shortly after she crossed the finish line, it became clear just how important Bush's finishing kick had been. The Wolfpack edged Northern Arizona by just one point in the team race. Kevin "KC" Concepcion, Football The true freshman wide receiver enjoyed a spectacular debut for NC State, finishing his first regular season in Raleigh with 64 catches for 767 yards and 10 touchdowns, while adding 297 yards on the ground. He's the only player in the FBS this year to surpass 750 yards receiving and 250 yards rushing, and he is the first ACC player since 2015 to do so. Concepcion, whose reception and touchdown totals set NC State freshman records, was named a first-team Freshman All-American by The Athletic in December and was the ACC's Offensive Rookie of the Year. Amanda Rice, Volleyball Following NC State's winningest season since 2012, Rice received East All-Region ac- colades from the American Volleyball Coaches Association, along with a second-team all- conference nod from the ACC. A junior op- posite hitter from Lemont, Ill., Rice was a big part of the Wolfpack's strong showing in 2023, totaling 331 kills, 80 blocks and 62 digs. In October, she became the first player in program history to have 20 or more kills in three consecutive matches. She totaled 27 kills in a 3-2 loss to Duke on Oct. 27 and followed with 20 apiece in 3-1 win over North Carolina two nights later and a 3-2 loss to Boston College on Nov. 3. Kai Orine, Wrestling Orine shined for NC State at the Cliff Keen Invitational Dec. 1-2 in Las Vegas, going 5-0 to claim the champi- onship in the 133-pound weight class. Orine, a redshirt junior from Imperial, Mo., defeated three ranked wrestlers en route to the tourna- ment crown, with the last of those victories coming by major decision — a 12-4 romp in the final over No. 11 Evan Frost of Iowa State. Orine was named ACC Wrestler of the Week following his performance. As of mid- December, he was ranked fifth nationally at 133 pounds. — Matt Herb
