48 THE WOLVERINE ❱ FEBRUARY 2024 ❱ FOOTBALL RECRUITING Scouting Report: One of the most aggressive and physically destruc- tive interior defensive linemen in the country. Extremely powerful with ter- rific brute strength. Sheds blockers and splits double teams at a high level. Relentless motor and always seems to create penetration and come away with tackles for loss. Also provides a pass- rushing presence in the interior. On the shorter side at 6-foot-2 but has an impressive compact frame at 267 pounds. Some have questioned arm length, but Wafle boasts a 6-foot-10 wingspan. Extremely quick and posted an impressive 4.9 40-yard dash in the offseason. Plays angry … every single down. The best defensive commit I saw live this year. 8. EDGE DEVON BAXTER BRANDYWINE (MD.) GWYNN PARK On3 Industry Ranking: Mid four- star (top 250-300 prospect nationally) EJ's Ranking: Mid four-star (top 175-225 prospect nationally) Scouting Report: An impressive physical specimen at 6-foot-5, 235 pounds. Carried up to 260 pounds dur- ing his high school career and should have no issue bulking up and becoming a bigger edge. Played in a run-heavy league and is comfortable as a run stop- per. Didn't have many opportunities to pin his ears back and rush the passer but flashed when asked to do so. Has tremendous length and athleti- cism. Played quarterback, tight end and wide receiver on offense, and also ex- celled on the basketball court. Extremely intelligent player that has wowed the staff with his own scouting reports. Has some of the biggest upside in the class but still needs technical work and more comfort as a pure pass rusher. 9. TE HOGAN HANSEN BELLEVUE (WASH.) HIGH On3 Industry Ranking: Mid four- star (top 250-300 prospect nationally) EJ's Ranking: Mid four-star (top 175-225 prospect nationally) Scouting Report: Thick build at 6-foot-5, 230 pounds but can still add about 20 pounds to his frame. Plays in an antiquated run-heavy offense and spends plenty of time as a true in-line tight end. Physical run blocker that takes pride in opening holes for backs and burying defenders. Limited opportunities as a pass catcher but really flashes when he gets the ball in his hands. Comfortable run- ning routes out of the in-line spot and also has experience splitting out wide. Shows athleticism and quality speed for his size on end-arounds. Disappoint- ing usage but upside is tremendous at Michigan. 10. QB JADYN DAVIS CHARLOTTE (N.C.) PROVIDENCE DAY On3 Industry Ranking: High four- star (top 75-100 prospect nationally) EJ's Ranking: Mid four-star (top 175-225 prospect nationally) Scouting Report: Very efficient passer with elite short-to-intermediate accuracy. Productive high school quar- terback that knows how to command an offense. Built for a pro-style scheme, which could allow him to play early at Michigan. Adequate arm strength. Very high IQ signal-caller that under- stands what the defense is doing pre- snap. High-end distributor but lacks as a creator. Shorter quarterback that doesn't offer much as a runner. Will need to improve speed and athleticism in U-M's strength and conditioning program. Polished passer with the ex- ception of a hitch. Beautiful deep ball when it hits but is inconsistent. 11. DL DEYVID PALEPALE MANHEIM TOWNSHIP (PA.) HIGH On3 Industry Ranking: Mid three- star (outside of the top 300 nationally) EJ's Ranking: Mid four-star (top 250-300 prospect nationally) Jadyn Davis is listed as the nation's No. 7 quarterback and No. 96 overall player in the On3 Industry Ranking.
