BLUEGOLDONLINE.COM JUNE/JULY 2024 19 THIRD QUARTER BLUE 21, GOLD 14 Top moment: With an unblocked Bowen bearing down on him, Minchey — with no room to step up — lofted an impeccable throw to Gilbert in the front- right corner of the end zone. The early enrollee separated from his man at the last moment and made the catch over his shoulder, knotting the game at 14. Feature performer: Sophomore run- ning back Jeremiyah Love caught all 3 of his targets for 31 yards and ran the ball twice for 10 yards, including a 6-yard touchdown. Stats: Gold outgained Blue 101-61. The Gold team picked up 4 first downs and went 2 of 2 on third-down conver- sions. Items: Freshman tight end Jack Larsen caught 2 passes for 23 yards, in- cluding a 19-yard gain to set up Love's score … Sophomore Gold linebacker Kahanu Kia totaled 4 tackles in the quarter (and each of the previous two). … Angeli completed a critical 11-yard pass to sophomore wide receiver Jaden Greathouse on fourth-and-6. FOURTH QUARTER BLUE 28, GOLD 21 Top moment: As soon as junior walk-on cornerback Isaiah Dunn bit on graduate student wide receiver Mitch- ell's double move, it was over. Mitchell was as open as one can possibly be when Angeli's throw reached him, and he took it 62 yards to the house. The Florida In- ternational transfer's touchdown gave the Blue team the lead for good, 28-21. Feature performer: Gilbert caught 3 of his team-leading 5 passes for 45 of his team-leading 79 yards. He also hauled in a 29-yard touchdown to tie the game at 21 — this time the pass came from Carr, who played for both teams. Stats: Gold controlled the ball for 12:50, while Blue had it for 2:10. The Blue team notched 3 sacks against Carr. Items: Blue's sacks came courtesy of freshman defensive end Bryce Young, freshman defensive tackle Sean Sevil- lano Jr. and sophomore vyper Bouba- car Traore … Graduate student safety Devyn Ford played running back during the Gold team's game-tying drive. ✦ Carr, who played for both the Blue and Gold squads, connected on 15 of 23 throws for 165 yards with 1 score.
