22 THE WOLVERINE ❱ AUGUST 2024 2023-24 YEAR IN REVIEW BY ANTHONY BROOME M ichigan women's ten- nis set a new bar for itself during the 2024 season, finishing with a program-record 29 match wins in ad- dition to winning the Big Ten regular- season championship and a conference tournament title to go along with it. Michigan tested itself in the non- conference with matches against No. 5 Oklahoma State (L, 4-2), No. 13 Okla- homa (W, 4-3), No. 11 Virginia (W, 5-2), No. 8 Florida (W, 4-1) and No. 7 NC State (W, 4-1), among others. It built a competitive edge that carried well into the record-setting season. The Wolverines knocked off rival Ohio State, 4-2, in Ann Arbor to win the Big Ten Tournament, then breezed through the first three rounds of the NCAA Tournament with wins over Chicago State (4-0), Notre Dame (4-2) and No. 22 Miami (4-0) to advance to the quarterfinals in Stillwater, Okla., on May 17.
