54 THE WOLVERINE ❱ NOVEMBER 2024 ❱ MICHIGAN RECRUITING NOTEBOOK ited Michigan more than any other pro- gram and was back on campus for the game against Texas in September. Overall, Cartwright has been to U-M seven times, and new tight ends coach Steve Casula is doing a great job of making him feel like an early priority. UCF COMMIT SET TO VISIT ANN ARBOR Three-star 2025 Seffner (Fla.) Arm- wood linebacker Cameron White gave Central Florida a verbal commitment in July. White is still content with his home state program but hasn't completely shut down his recruitment. "Things are great with UCF," White said. "I have a great relationship with them. I'm still committed there. That's where I'm fixing to go. But you never know what can happen." Michigan extended an offer to White in late August, and the Wolverines immedi- ately piqued his interest. After he took a couple of months to be- come familiar with the program and the staff, White has seen Michigan emerge as a true threat to flip him. "I like Coach BJ [Brian Jean-Mary] a lot," White said. "I've been talking to him for a minute. He's really cool. I want to see what Michigan has to offer. I'm interested in them, and I'm just building that relationship with them." New Michigan linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary, who is also from Florida, has quickly built a strong bond with him. "We relate a lot," White said. "He knows a lot about my area. I like his style. He's cool. He's a genuine per- son. He tells me that I'm one of his guys and that he's really interested in me. He really wants me to come up there and see what Michigan of- fers." White has also been able to get on the phone with Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore. "He's cool, too," White said. "He seems like a genuine guy. I just want to get to know him more and keep building the relationship with him." Michigan has one of the best de- fenses in college football and con- sistently churns out linebackers. And that's definitely moving the needle with White. "Their defense is great, White said. "I've been watching a lot of their games. I like their defense and the linebackers. I could really envision myself being there and playing in that defense. Coach BJ said I'm a great player and could fit at the Mike or Will." White will get his first look at the pro- gram when he makes an official visit on Nov. 2 for U-M's game against Oregon. "I'm looking forward to the overall ex- perience," White said. "How is it on game day? How is the environment? I want to see all the facilities because it'll be my first time up there. I'm from Florida, so I want to see the weather. But I don't think it'll be too bad since I have family in Colorado, and I'm used to the snow." Michigan is the only school other than UCF that White, the No. 89 linebacker nationally, plans to visit this fall. TOP 100 WR ANDREW MARSH READY TO MAKE AN IMPACT Michigan's passing offense has strug- gled through the first month of the sea- son. Naturally, other schools are going to recruit U-M wide receiver commit An- drew Marsh. "A few schools are still reaching out," Marsh said. "I haven't signed yet, but I'm locked in with Michigan." Marsh is still happy with his verbal pledge to Michigan. Remember, he picked U-M despite a late push from Washington and having offers from schools closer to home. "Everything is really great with Michi- gan," Marsh said. "I'm looking forward to getting up there and making a difference." While other schools may be selling a lack of wide receiver production, Michi- gan can easily combat that pitch with the need for a dynamic playmaker at the po- sition. Marsh is one of the highest ranked wideouts the Wolverines have landed over the last decade, and there is no doubt that the expectation is for the Katy (Texas) Jordan prospect to make an im- mediate impact. "For me, that's great," Marsh said. "I've always wanted to get on the field and play early. That's something I've wanted to do for a long time. Just the fact that I'll have that opportunity there is something that I'm definitely excited about." Marsh, who will enroll early, visited Michigan three times this summer and was recently back on campus for the Sept. 7 game against Texas. "It was great," Marsh said. "It was my first game up there. I got to see everything and felt the vibes in Ann Arbor during a game day. It was a great experience." The visit also allowed Marsh to be around some of the other com- mits in Michigan's 2025 recruiting class. "They do a great job of getting us all up there at the same time," he said. "I've talked to all of them, for the most part. I feel like we have a great bond." Marsh also has a strong relation- ship with Michigan wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy, who is keeping in close contact throughout the fall. "Just keep going and pushing, that's what he tells me," Marsh said. "We'll hop on the phone during the week. He'll also send me messages saying that he wants me up there. I'm ready to get up there."
