44 NOV. 9, 2024 BLUE & GOLD ILLUSTRATED GAME PREVIEW: FLORIDA STATE omore running back Jeremiyah Love and junior running back Jadarian Price — averaging at least 6 yards per carry in at least 49 attempts. Up front, the Irish should have junior right guard Billy Schrauth at full strength and ready to go fol- lowing the Week 10 bye. His replacement, gradu- ate student guard Rocco Spindler, has actually been Notre Dame's best run-blocking offensive lineman per PFF (grading at 70.2) and could remain in the starting lineup after Schrauth returns. Either combination should run roughshod over FSU's defense. Advantage: Notre Dame NOTRE DAME PASSING GAME VS. FLORIDA STATE PASS DEFENSE Florida State's run defense can be described as comfortably mid. The pass defense is probably a little worse. The Seminoles rank 84th nationally with 7.5 yards per attempt allowed, but in terms of impact plays, they haven't made many. A defensive line that was supposed to be feared is still pretty good, but not the juggernaut it was advertised as. Defensive tackle Joshua Farmer has been the Seminoles' best weapon, with 20 of their 100 quarterback pressures, and they're currently Offense Pos. No. Name Ht. Wt. Yr. In fact, Florida State is tied for dead last in FBS with only 3 forced turnovers, right alongside New Mexico State. Notre Dame is improving its passing game, with Leonard's yards per attempt up to 6.7 after Week 8. He still has occasional lapses, such as his first- quarter interception against Georgia Tech, but he is getting better. Against a team that takes the ball away as little as FSU does, he'd be well advised to take more chances — but taking what the defense gives him is also significant. Notre Dame's wide receivers have also gotten more involved since the Week 6 bye, with graduate student Beaux Collins up to 317 yards and sopho- more Jaden Greathouse up to 202.
