C O M Tessa Janecke — Women's Ice Hockey Janecke has been an offensive standout for the Nit- tany Lions since her arrival on campus in 2022, and she's kept up her furious scoring pace this season. The junior from Orangeville, Ill., was recently named Forward of the Month for November by the Atlantic Hockey America conference. She had at least 1 point in six of Penn State's seven games in November, including a pair of 3-point games against Lindenwood. Janecke, who was also the AHA's Forward of the Month in Oc- tober, was tied for 10th nationally with 25 points (11 goals, 14 assists) through Penn State's first 17 games. Kaitlyn MacBean — Women's Soccer MacBean received first-team United Soccer Coaches All-North Region honors after leading Penn State to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament for the sec- ond year in a row. The redshirt senior forward from Excelsior, Minn., paced the Nittany Lion offense with 34 points on 16 goals and 2 assists. She ranked 10th nationally in goals, and her 6 game-winning tallies were the seventh-most in Division I this year. MacBean is the 17th PSU player to receive first-team All-Region honors since the Lions were placed in the North Region by United Soccer Coaches in 2018. Mitchell Mesenbrink — Wrestling Mesenbrink became the first Penn Stater to win Big Ten Wrestler of the Week honors this year after going 4-0 en route to the 165-pound title at the Black Knight Invitational Nov. 24 in West Point, N.Y. All four of Mesen- brink's wins came by technical fall, including a pair of victories over ranked opponents. The redshirt sophomore from Hartland, Wis., defeated No. 32 Tony White of Rut- gers, 19-4, and No. 14 Gunner Filipowicz of Army, 17-2. Afterward, Mesenbrink was named the tournament's Outstanding Wrestler. John Seifarth — Men's Ice Hockey After excelling in goal during Penn State's two-game sweep of Colgate Nov. 26-27, Seifarth became the first Nittany Lion in nearly two years to be named Big Ten First Star of the Week. The junior from Pittsburgh stopped 47 of 50 shots in the series, including a career- high 25 saves in the Lions' 3-2 victory in the opener. Seifarth was making his first starts for the Lions. He had been a two-year member of Penn State's club hockey program before joining the varsity team last spring. Dur- ing his first three game appearances for the Lions, he compiled a 2-0-0 record, 2.64 goals-against average and .902 save percentage. — Matt Herb PENN STATE'S TOP PERFORMERS NEW!
