The Nit- tany Lions earned their 11th victory of the 2024 season when they routed Maryland, 44-7, on Nov. 30 at Beaver Stadium. Penn State is one of only six FBS teams that have won 11 or more games in at least five of the past nine seasons. The others are Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State and Oklahoma. 5-0 Penn State's road record this season, with wins at West Virginia (34-12, Aug. 31), USC (33-30, Oct. 12), Wisconsin (28-13, Oct. 26), Purdue (49-10, Nov. 16) and Minnesota (26-25, Nov. 23). It's only the third time in the past three decades that PSU has gone undefeated on the road. The Lions also did so in 1994 and 2009. 8 Consecutive trips to the Sweet 16 by the Penn State women's soccer team, the longest active streak in Divi- sion I. The 22nd-ranked Nittany Lions reached the third round of the NCAA Tournament by downing No. 7 TCU, 1-0, on Nov. 22 in Tallahassee, Fla. The Lions saw their season end the follow- ing week with a 2-1 loss to No. 8 North Carolina in the quarterfinals. 15th Penn State's finish in the NCAA Women's Cross Country Championship on Nov. 23 at Madison, Wis. Led by senior Florence Caron, who came in 19th overall with a time of 19:51.2 in the 6-kilometer race, Penn State put together its best per- formance in the team standings since finishing 14th in 2012. 18 Big Ten championships that have been won or shared by the Penn State women's volleyball team since it entered the league in 1991. The fourth-ranked Nittany Lions clinched a share of this year's crown, their first since 2017, when they defeated No. 2 Nebraska, 3-1, at Rec Hall on Nov. 28. The Cornhuskers went on to defeat Maryland two nights later and finished in a first-place tie with PSU at 19-1 in conference matches. The Lions have nine more Big Ten titles than the next- closest team, Wisconsin. 50 The number of games since 2014 in which Penn State has rushed for 200 or more yards. The Nittany Lions have won 45 of those games, including their romp over Maryland in November in which they gained 213 yards on the ground. 88 Catches by senior tight end TYLER WARREN this season. Warren surpassed the Big Ten single-season record for most catches by a tight end, breaking the previous mark of 75 that had been set in 2007 by Wisconsin's Travis Beckum. Six of Warren's catches this season have been for touchdowns, bringing his career total to 17. With a 7-yard scoring reception against the Terrapins, War- ren broke Pat Freiermuth's PSU career record for tight ends. Freiermuth, who is currently with the Pittsburgh Steel- ers, caught 16 touchdown passes for the Nittany Lions from 2018-20. 156-36 The combined point differential in the Penn State football team's past four games against Maryland. The closest of those games was a 31-14 PSU victory in College Park in 2021. Over the past three years, the Nittany Lions have won by scores of 30-0, 51-15 and 44-7. 255 Rushing yards by former Penn State running back Saquon Barkley in the Philadelphia Eagles' 37-20 victory over the host Los Angeles Rams on Nov. 24. It was the highest single-game rushing total in franchise history and the ninth-high- est in league history. Heading into a matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 15, Barkley was leading the NFL with 1,623 rushing yards and was being widely hailed as a potential MVP.
