BLUEGOLDONLINE.COM NOV. 15, 2025 11 UNDER THE DOME "If the quarterbacks in contention falter down the stretch of the regular season, Notre Dame run- ning back Jeremiyah Love is ready to pounce. He broke a 94-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter Saturday at Boston College to provide breathing room for the Irish in a 25-10 win. Love rushed for 136 yards and 2 touchdowns this week. Through eight games, he has rushed for 894 yards and 11 touch- downs while averaging 6.3 yards per attempt. "Our pollsters placed him a tie for fourth place with Georgia Tech QB Haynes King. Love received one first-place vote. His candidacy would receive a boost if Notre Dame can win out against Navy, Pitt, Syracuse and Stanford." — The Athletic's Mitch Sherman on his Week 10 Heisman straw poll "People will say you need to have style points. I disagree with that. I think playing your 'C' game and winning, I give you credit for that. I'd like to see you play your 'A' game, but getting a win is all you can do. A lot of teams would definitely trade places with those three that I just talked about with their performances on Saturday." — ESPN's Greg McElroy on Michigan, Virginia and Notre Dame winning sloppy games in Week 10 "Notre Dame put itself behind the eight-ball by losing its season opener at Miami and then losing its home opener against Texas A&M. Because the rest of Notre Dame's schedule isn't particularly chal- lenging, these two losses are a huge drag. But as long as Texas A&M and Miami were clear College Football Playoff teams, then there was a path for a 10-2 Notre Dame to make the CFP. "But with Miami losing for the second time in three weeks, the Hurricanes and the Irish now have identical 6-2 records. Notre Dame's best win is against USC. Miami's best win is against Notre Dame. The head-to-head has to matter in an all-other-things-equal situation. Otherwise, why bother playing the games? "So, I don't have Notre Dame in my projected CFP bracket because I don't have Miami in it either. If there was one spot remaining, it would go to Miami over Notre Dame. And that won't change unless Miami loses again." — On3's Andy Staples "Much of Tuesday night's post-poll reaction centered on the selection committee's positive view of Notre Dame despite only one win over a ranked opponent, but a deeper dive is needed. For starters, head-to-head results only come into play 'when circumstances at the margins indicate that teams are comparable.' That's verbatim from selection committee protocol. "That 13-member panel made it clear Miami and Notre Dame as two-loss teams are not equal when considering the full body of work. There's some subjective recency bias tossed in there when you look at the Hurricanes' losses coming over their last three games, but the point remains — Notre Dame's edge in strength of record (15th) and strength of schedule (23rd) are two factors with heavy significance. — Brad Crawford of CBS Sports on Notre Dame (No. 10) being ranked eight spots ahead of Miami (No. 18) despite losing their head-to-head matchup — Tyler James PHOTO BY CHAD WEAVER Irish On Social Media THEY SAID IT THEY SAID IT "JORDAN FAISON has been outstanding this year. He's really stepped up. Malachi Fields with the big size that he gives you on the outside to win those one-on-one matchups. At tight end, Eli Raridon. There's always a Notre Dame tight end that's stepping up, too. Raridon's been a fantastic asset lately. [Jeremiyah] Love being added. Will Pauling from Wisconsin has always had poten - tial. He's really good in the slot. He's been their best receiver the last couple of years, and now he's coming in and contributing to this team. "The only thing that surprises me is we haven't seen more of Jaden Greathouse. He was so good at the end of last year. Only four catches this year. That group and that depth I really think is even better than they had last year. And it's a big reason for Carr's success." — Pro Football Focus' Dalton Wasserman on Notre Dame's pass catchers
