BLUEGOLDONLINE.COM NOV. 15, 2025 23 0 Penalties for Notre Dame against Navy. Per Notre Dame media relations, the Fighting Irish last completed a game without a penalty in a 24-6 win at No. 11 LSU on Nov. 15, 1997. The Irish entered their matchup with the Mid- shipmen averaging 6.25 penalties per game. The previous season low was 3 penalties against Pur- due Sept. 20. 0 Snaps taken by Navy senior quarterback Blake Horvath, who was ruled out an hour before the game started due to a lower body injury that he suffered in the Midshipmen's 31-17 loss at North Texas Nov. 1. "We didn't want to put him in harm's way and make something worse," Navy head coach Brian Newberry said after the game. "I didn't feel com- fortable putting him out there. Hopefully, he'll be out there next week." In Navy's first eight games, Horvath accounted for 926 yards and 13 touchdowns rushing, and 1,143 yards and 7 scores passing. 2 Players in Notre Dame history have scored 15 or more touchdowns in back-to-back seasons, per the NBC Sports broadcast: running back Allen Pinkett in 1983 and 1984, and now running back Jeremiyah Love in 2024 and 2025. Pinkett scored 18 touchdowns in both 1983 (16 rushing and 2 receiving) and 1984 (17 rushing and 1 receiving), while Love tallied 19 (17 rushing and 2 receiving) in 2024 and had 16 (13 rushing and 3 receiving) through nine games in the 2025 season. 3 Pass completions for Navy's offense, all of which were thrown by starting quarterback Braxton Woodson, who replaced the sidelined Horvath. Woodson's 3 completions on 8 attempts accounted for just 22 passing yards. 37 Career touchdowns for junior running back Jeremiyah Love. He scored a pair of touchdowns on runs of 1 and 48 yards against Navy to increase his career total to 37, of which 31 have been rushing touchdowns. Love moved past running back Vagas Ferguson (35 touchdowns from 1976-79) and fullback Louis "Red" Salmon (36 from 1900-03) for fifth place on the all-time touchdowns list at Notre Dame. Pinkett (53 from 1982-85) holds the program record ahead of running backs Autry Denson (47 from 1995-98) and Jerome Bettis (39 from 1990-92) and wide receiver Michael Floyd (38 from 2008-11). 72 Rushing yards for sophomore running back Aneyas Williams, which set a career high. He achieved his total on 5 carries in one drive, which he ended with a 54-yard touchdown run. Williams entered the game with 6 carries for 30 yards and 1 touchdown earlier this season. Wil- liams rushed 34 times for 219 yards and 2 touch- downs last season. 101 Rushing yards and 1 touchdown on 23 carries for Woodson, who got the start at quarterback in place of the injured Horvath. That made Woodson the first player to rush for 100 or more yards against the Irish this season. 206 Rushing yards for Navy as a team against Notre Dame. The Midshipmen enter the game averaging a nation-best 317.3 rush- ing yards per game. 249 Rushing yards for Notre Dame's of- fense against Navy marked the fifth game with at least 200 rushing yards for the Irish this season. The 249 rushing yards are the third most of the season behind 254 against Purdue and 306 against Southern Cal. The Fighting Irish have rushed for at least 136 yards per game in each of the last eight games after being limited to 93 yards against Miami in the season opener. That is by far the most in a sea- son for an Irish freshman quar- terback. Steve Beuerlein had four 40-yard completions in 1983. PHOTO BY MICHAEL MILLER
