When Rivals updated its 2026 player rankings Nov. 17, the Irish had six recruits in the top 32 — the threshold for five-star status when rankings are finalized in February. That's double the next group of teams — Georgia, Michigan and Ohio State — which each have three. In the penultimate 2026 update, the Rivals scouting team, led by director of scouting and rankings Charles Power and national scout Cody Bellaire, awarded 21 players five stars and two of them were Notre Dame commits. Wyndmoor (Pa.) La Salle College offensive tackle Grayson McKeogh and Charlotte (N.C.) Myers Park edge rusher Rodney Dunham Jr. claimed two of those spots as the Nos. 9 and 10 players in the class. Though currently rated as four-star recruits, the other four top-32 Irish commits — Towson (Md.) Loyola Academy cornerback Khary Adams, La Salle College safety Joey O'Brien, Great Bend (Kan.) High tight end Ian Premer and South Garner (N.C.) High edge rusher Ebenezer Ewetade — are all tracking toward five-star status. They rank as the Nos. 23, 25, 27 and 28 players in the class. Rivals awards five stars to 32 players every cycle to mirror the number of first-round NFL Draft picks. Premer and O'Brien are also the top players at their positions, while McKeogh and Dunham rank No. 3 at theirs. Adams is the No. 2 cornerback and Ewetade is the No. 7 edge rusher. All six prospects also rank within the top three players in their respective states. • Notre Dame could add another recruit to its 2026 class commit list. On Nov. 16, McDonald (Pa.) Fort Cherry three-star safety Matt Sieg arrived in South Bend for a three-day official visit. Ranked by Rivals as the No. 19 player in Pennsylvania and No. 40 safety nationally, Sieg has been verbally committed to Penn State since November 2024. However, after the Nittany Lions fired coach James Franklin Oct. 12, Sieg reopened his recruitment. In addition to the Irish, Sieg has officially visited Indiana and Pittsburgh. He also plans to officially visit West Virginia Nov. 29. Still, after his trip to South Bend, there is optimism building that Notre Dame will be the one to flip him from Penn State. — Kyle Kelly McDonald (Pa.) Fort Cherry three-star safety Matt Sieg, a Penn State commit, gave Notre Dame an extended look, officially visiting campus from Nov. 16-18.
