JANUARY 2026 ❱ THE WOLVERINE 13 ❱ INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS Myli Lew is a freshman entering her first season with the Wolverines, coming off an impressive club career. She won the all- around title at the American Classic in 2023 and most recently took home the uneven bars title in 2025. She has brought her talents to a Michigan team that is seek- ing its first national championship since 2021. Lew is enrolled in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts, and has yet to declare a major. Here are some things about Lew you may not have known: Best Aspect Of Being From Belmont, Calif.: "I like the weather. It's not too hot or too cold. And we don't really have all four seasons, so there's no snow." Favorite Restaurant In Ann Arbor: "Either Sava's or Bigalora." Best Meal She Can Cook By Herself: "Lemon chicken with some pasta." Sport She Enjoys Besides Gymnastics: "Vol- leyball. I just hit the ball a few times because my sister used to be in volleyball, and I'd tag along, I guess." Favorite Movie: "'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days' or 'High School Musical.'" Favorite TV Show: "'Gilmore Girls.'" Why She Chose Michigan: "I wanted some- where that had great academics and athletics, so the best of both worlds. Also, the team was so welcoming, and everyone was so nice. They have so many resources for student- athletes, so I liked that." What She Hopes To Do After Michigan: "As of right now, I feel like I wouldn't do gymnas- tics after college. A lot later on in life, maybe, I'd want to start my own business. I'm not sure in what, but that would be the goal." Favorite Memory At Michigan: "I haven't had any meets, but media day. I thought that was a very fun moment, just taking photos. That was really fun." What She Hopes Her Michigan Experience Is: "I can grow both as an athlete and a per- son, and challenge myself and contribute to the team. Hopefully, I can take advantage of all the opportunities that I get here." Why Michigan Fans Should Be Excited About The Season: "With the season coming up, fans should be excited because we're a hungry team. We want to win the national championship, obviously, and we've been putting in really hard work and improving every day.
