MICHIGAN'S 2026 CAPTAINS: Best Bets The Wolverines have one former captain returning in Rod Moore, but there are few obvious candidates among the seniors returning to fill the other spots. Here are our thoughts on who the team might select: DEFENSE — DB ROD MOORE The veteran returning two-time captain was one of four captains appointed for spring, and he's the unequivocal leader of this team. He's a veteran with experience who is respected by everyone at Schembechler Hall. The dark horse — DT Trey Pierce: Pierce was another spring cap- tain, and he took a huge step in the "vocal leadership" department this year. He's always been a hard worker, and it wouldn't surprise if he were defensive captain No. 2. OFFENSE — RB JORDAN MARSHALL It's not often juniors get the call to be Michigan captains, but Marshall could well get the nod. Teammates voted him one of the spring captains, and he made his love for the program clear even before he arrived in Ann Arbor. He's got the work ethic and the leadership to be a great one. The dark horse — TE Zack Marshall: The senior tight end has a great head on his shoulders and has been a very good teammate. He has the respect of everyone on the team. Senior Trey Pierce took on more of a "vocal leadership" role in the offseason and is a potential defensive captain this fall.
