AUGUST 2026 ❱ THE WOLVERINE 13 ❱ INSIDE MICHIGAN ATHLETICS Howard Eisley Jr. is entering his junior year as a walk- on for the Wolverines. Eisley has played in 12 career games, including three in 2025-26, when the Maize and Blue captured the program's second national champion- ship. The 6-foot, 200-pounder drilled a three-pointer to mark his first career bucket in a win over La Salle and notched his first career rebound in an NCAA Tourna- ment first-round win over Howard. Eisley is the son of former Michigan assistant coach Howard Eisley (2019- 24), who played in the NBA from 1994-2006. Here are some things about Eisley you may not have known: Best Aspect Of Being From New York, N.Y.: "The city, 'The Mecca' [Madison Square Garden]. Everyone wants to go there. I feel like when you're from New York, you have a different type of swag. You walk a little differ- ently with a different swag, knowing you're from New York." Favorite Restaurant In Ann Arbor: "Either Sava's or Mani Osteria." Best Meal He Can Cook By Himself: "I can cook pretty much anything. My mom is a really good cook, and I grew up in the kitchen with her. My go-to is probably steak and broccoli." Favorite Professional Athlete: "Floyd Mayweather. [I admire] his work ethic and how much confidence and belief he has in himself." Sport He Enjoys Besides Basketball: "Football, for sure. I played all the way until freshman year of high school." Favorite Movie: "'Space Jam.'" Favorite TV Show: "'Power.'" Why He Chose Michigan: "The family ties, but besides that, the city itself, how embracing it is and how much they support athletes. They welcome us with open arms. Whatever we need, they're there to help. They're supportive. It's basically a huge family." What He Hopes To Do After Michigan: "It defi- nitely does go fast. I'm a junior, which is crazy to think about. I was just a freshman yesterday, I feel like. I want to play basketball overseas, but if that doesn't go well, I want to get into finance." Favorite Memory At Michigan: "Winning the na- tional championship. It didn't even feel real, to be honest with you. I'm still in shock to this day, thinking about how we really won a national championship. That's a hu- mongous accolade. But just winning it with my brothers was a really special moment, seeing all the hard work we put in and seeing it all come together." Overall Experience At Michigan: "Love it. Wouldn't trade it for anything.
