BLUEGOLDONLINE.COM SEPT. 12, 2026 29 keeping guys fresh and continuing to let them run and continuing to let them try to wear down the defense." Notre Dame's running backs were limited to 35 yards and 14 carries in the first half by Wisconsin. But Notre Dame made some adjustments, blocked bet- ter and executed from the running back position to start picking up chunks of yards. The Irish backs combined for 16 car- ries, 82 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns in the second half. Williams did much of the work with 13 carries for 72 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He finished the game with 90 rushing yards on 20 carries. "I thought the coaches made some really good adjustments in a run game, and our running backs, they were hit- ting holes," Freeman said. "They were hitting the angles that we needed to hit. And we challenged a little bit after — we gotta run, man. Stop trying to look for certain things. See your angle depar- ture, your aiming point and go." — Tyler James NOTRE DAME INDIVIDUAL STATISTICS Rushing Att. Gain Lost Net Avg.
