Feature Performers: The second quarter started Aneyas Williams' get- right game. The Irish junior running back had 7 carries for 50 yards — in- cluding his longest run of the year (22 yards) — and a touchdown. Stats: The Notre Dame offensive line started to hit its stride, too, paving the way for 66 yards on 11 carries and 2 touchdowns. The Irish had 138 yards and held Purdue to just 18. Notre Dame had 3 sacks and 3 quarterback hurries. Items: Senior defensive lineman Armel Mukam had his first career sack. Freshman safety Joey O'Brien assisted on another. THIRD QUARTER NOTRE DAME 35, PURDUE 3 Top Moment: After Carr threw his first interception of the season, the defense bailed him out by getting a fourth-down stop on a short field. A quarterback pressure by Young on fourth-and-goal from the Irish 4-yard line temporarily kept the shutout intact. On defense, junior de- fensive lineman Sean Sevillano added 2 tackles and forced a fumble, which Purdue recovered. Stats: Grubbs completed 2 of 4 passes for 30 yards with 1 touchdown.
