BLUEGOLDONLINE.COM OCT. 31, 2026 41 OPPONENT ON DECK: BOSTON COLLEGE EAGLES Date: Nov. 14, 2026 Site (capacity): Notre Dame Stadium (77,622) Kickoff: 3:30 p.m. All-time series: Notre Dame leads 19-9 Last meeting: Notre Dame 25, Boston College 10 (Nov. 1, 2025, Alumni Stadium) 2026 Record To Date: 3-3 (1-2 ACC) Boston College head coach: Bill O'Brien, 12-19 at BC (3rd year) and 27-28 overall (5th year) Season summary: Boston College's 2026 season to date has featured both good and bad news. The good news is that through the first five games, the Eagles have already matched last season's win total with two victories. The bad news is they let two more wins get away. Against Virginia Tech Sept. 26, Boston College held a 14-6 lead with 11:09 remaining. However, the Eagles' defense surrendered 15 unanswered points and the offense ran just 10 plays the rest of the game. Then, against SMU Oct. 3, Boston College kept the game within three points until midway through the third quarter before unraveling. The Eagles committed three penalties on their opening pos- session of the second half, which ended with a lost fumble. Two subsequent possessions ended on downs. One reason for the Eagles' success has been se- nior quarterback Mason McKenzie's rushing ability. Through Week 6, he led all ACC quarterbacks with 437 rushing yards. The Boston College defense ranks 19th in the FBS against the pass, allowing just 164.6 yards per game. The Eagles have also forced turnovers and negative-yardage plays, recording 6 interceptions (20th nationally) and averaging 7.4 tackles for loss per game (15th). The Eagles gave the Irish trouble when they met last year, covering a 31.5-point spread in a 25-10 loss. However, the last time they visited Notre Dame, Marcus Freeman's squad dismantled them 44-0. ✦ Senior quarterback Mason McKenzie can make plays with his feet and his arm, running for 437 yards while passing for 967 in Boston College's first five games.
