Under the Dome 236 Days from the time Notre Dame last played (Jan. 7) prior to the Aug. 31 season opener against Temple. That marked the "shortest" stint between the last game of one season and the first of the next — although some Fighting Irish fans might argue it was one of the "longest" offseasons they can remember, starting with the Brian Kelly job interview with the Philadelphia Eagles and the Manti Te'o girlfriend hoax news in the winter. 2004-05 The last time Notre Dame defeated Michigan in back-to-back years, winning 28-20 in 2004 at home and 17‑10 in 2005. The other times it posted at least a two-game winning streak against the Wolverines was 1979 (12-10) and 1980 (29-27), and then four straight in 1987 (26-7), 1988 (1917), 1989 (24-19) and 1990 (28-24). 17.90 Points per game given up by Notre Dame in the three seasons from 2010-12 under defensive coordinator Bob Diaco. Only four other teams posted a better average: Alabama (10.88), LSU (15.58), Boise State (15.74) and Florida State (16.51). photo by joe raymond
