"The energy in that building the past couple of years has been amazing. I love the event and I love that we've extended the contract. In a pre-Christmas non-conference showdown, the Irish will play Ohio Recruiting Update The Irish are down to five targets for three spots in their 2014 recruiting class. Top target Devin Robinson, a 6-8, 169-pound four-star small forward, has trimmed his list to five teams, including Notre Dame. The Church View, Va., native is the 29th-ranked player nationally by 247Sports. He has yet to set his official visit, but the Irish are hoping he comes to town for the Michigan State football weekend Sept. 21. Power forward Michael Humphrey also narrowed his list in the past two weeks, and Notre Dame made the cut of five remaining schools. The 6-9, 200-pound Phoenix native has announced the dates he is visiting the remaining schools in contention: Vanderbilt Sept. 7, Stanford Sept. 21, Notre Dame Sept. 28, UCLA Oct. 12 and Arizona Oct. 19. The other three players on the Irish radar are three-star Bonzie Colson (6-4 small forward from Barrington, R.I.), four-star Martin Geben (6-9 power forward from Hagerstown, Md.) and four-star Reid Travis (6-7 power forward from Minneapolis). — Andrew Owens State at Madison Square Garden in the Gotham Classic. In all, the Irish are scheduled to play on CBS once, ESPN and ESPN2 a total of nine times, ESPNU five times, the ACC Network six times and the Regional Sports Network twice. Women's Basketball Schedule Released The Notre Dame women's basketball regular-season schedule was released Aug. 28 after approval from the university's Faculty Board on Athletics. Highlighting the 28-game slate — plus at least one game in the ACC Tournament in March — will be three consecutive "Big Monday" appearances on ESPN2 and ESPN. All three come on the road against potential Final Four contenders Tennessee (Jan. 20), Maryland (Jan. 27) and Duke (Feb. 2); the Irish defeated the Blue Devils in the Elite Eight last season to advance to their third consecutive Final Four. The maiden voyage as a member of the ACC begins by hosting Clemson Jan. 5. The 16-game league schedule has the Blue Devils and Boston College as repeat opponents. Notre Dame returns four starters from last year's 35-2 squad that finished No. 2 in the final Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today polls. Three of them are seniors — All-Americans Kayla McBride and Natalie Achonwa at guard and forward, respectively, plus forward Ariel Braker — who will join guard Jewell Loyd, the 2013 National Freshman of the Year.
